  • A boxers listed age

I have read that Marvin Hagler was older than what he was listed. Also Ken Norton, Sonny Liston, and Joel Casamayor. There is evidence that supports it. Do any of you know anything about that? Or hear anything?

Sonny Liston, I could believe because of the era. But definitely sceptical about Norton, Hagler & Casamayor.

What is this evidence for those barring Liston?

With Norton, his listed age today would make him older than what he was listed when he was an active boxer. He never really denied it at that time. Howard Cosell asked him about it before his fight with Holmes and Norton responded by saying "You're only as old as you feel."

With Casamayor, it's been stated that a lot of Cuban athletes(not just boxing) have listed their ages as younger than what they were after they defected to the United states.

I've heard rumors about those same people and I personally suspect that it is true. But of course I can't prove anything.

You can also include Sam Peter on that list.

Scott, when I watched Ali-Norton 3 and Norton-Holmes, Norton's age was listed as 31 and 32 which would have made him 3 or 4 years younger than Ali. When I read about him today, his listed age is only one year younger than Ali. That seems strange to me.

Did the article mention how Norton was doing now? Heard he was in bad shape last year.

It didn't say anything about his current condition although it did mention that he had a stroke. I was wondering the same thing.

I have no doubt about Samuel Peter being older than listed. Football/Soccer players from Nigeria are notorious for being 'age fakes'.

I doubt Liston knew his own age.
