Very Hard Puncher
Very Hard Puncher for sure, but not top 20 all time HW, maybe not top 25, nothing though against his power, just means there are at least 25 guys all time that hit harder.
If you rated them on a scale of 1-10 in Power, I would rate anyone 6 and above as a very hard puncher, it's just that there were many ATG's at HW that had well above avg. Power, just to name a few I rate well above Bean & in no particular order, only how they come to memory to me.
1. Foreman
2. Shavers
3. Marciano
4. Frazier
5. Dempsey
6. Jeffries
7. Sullivan
8. Liston
9. W. Klitschko
10. Tyson
11. Baer
12. V. Klitschko
13. Tua
14. Morrison
15. Mccall
16. Louis
17. Lewis
18. Schmeling
19. Patterson
20. Galento
Those are just the ones that come to mind, I would rate over bean & with some time, & a little research, Im sure I could easily add 5 to 10 more.
Again taking nothing away from Bean's Power, he hit hard with both hands, but I would rate him well below the upper echelon of Power guys, hard punching HW's of all time.
I would rate him down with guys, like,
Mercer
Holmes
Lyle
Quarry
Norton
Ellis, I might rate Ellis in the tier above him.
P. Thomas
I'm sure I'm missing guys to add to my top 20
& others I would rate in and around Bean's power, but this gives you a good idea of the ones to rate above him & near him, he also took a great Punch, I knew a guy he fought in the Tough man Competition, this guy weighed 190, was absolutely solid, boxed his entire life & personally saw him take out 5 big guys all over 200 solid, tough guys in a street fight, all with 1 punch, so he was way above the normal street tough guy, & he fought a few professional fights, & also against Bean in the tough man and in 1 Pro fight, & lost both times, but he was 32 & not in the same great shape as earlier in his career, but he still had that great punch & Bean took many solid shots to the face & Head & Chin from this guy in the fight, without slowing down, & then knocked my guy out later, so he could hit hard & take a punch.

Hardest man in the diner.. Had good power, and considering his snowman physique, some stamina to go with it, but purely a sideshow and should be taken about as seriously as Bob Sapp and the like.

That's about as seriously as he is taken, considering he's only fought past 4 rounds maybe twice in his career and one time was in a 10 rounder in Larry Holmes' last pro fight. That's why Butterbean milked his power all he could, doing stuff like the Knoxville fight, boxing at a Wrestlemania show one year and mostly fighting 4 rounders. He did try his hand at kickboxing and MMA, but seemed to do better as a boxer.

In a way, it's a shame he did'nt go in with any top hw's, because in mma, he's proved himself to be incredibly brave, and takes a beating really well, oh he's difficult to hurt alright, and i respect that.
