  • Where does butterbeans power rank?

Hes not mentioned alot but he was a 350 pound dude with 2 MASSIVE hooks and for a man of his size, they came at you pretty quick. I would be shocked if hes not in the top 10 at least

Top 10? Maybe amongst carnival sideshows.

I'm sure Butterbean was a very hard puncher....you could see that when he almost killed that poor professional wrestler who they (for some reason) allowed to box the Bean. But, on the grand scale Butterbean couldn't deliver that power to any one with a real boxing background, so it's moot.

One of the hardest punchers of the toughman circuit, but that's about it.

i know larry was in his 50s when he fought bean and he did talk alot of **** but the fact thats he mentioned his power being the hardest he felt, when his previous opponents include guys like gerry cooney, mike tyson and earnie shavers has gotta mean sumin. I thought his acting was very good when he got hit in that fight and his respect for beans power after round 1 was very clear and larrys got 1 of the best chins out there. Its hard to compare with his lack of good opponents but just visually you could tell he was an extraordinary hard puncher. I think he sc****s into the top ten

Larry was 50 then. Butterbean ko'd a lot of guys that (A) knew nothing about boxing because fighting him was their first time with gloves on (B) were brought in, if not to lose, certainly not to win, or even to try to win.

Oh yeah it means something...Like when Larry did the batman leap at Berbick....Its called self promotion. Holmes has always been smart as a whip...exhibit A he actually has more money now than when he started boxing and was able to keep KIng's fat fingers & the IRS out of his honeypot!

Butterbean could really hit, no doubt. But he's nowhere close to the top 10 on any all time level. To be honest there are probably at least 5 active heavyweights who hit harder. And nobody is calling this the golden era of heavyweights.

Lol you guys are funny, yeah Bean was huge and no doubt he would lay a mean hit but top tier heavyweights are way better skilled and conditioned and would be more devastating punchers imo, Bean just would have had that massive weight behind his punches, no snap or technique but.
