So? It hurts his resume the same way that Hopkins hurt Tito's. It doesn't make or break it, but it definitely hurts. And Cooney and Holmes have big stylistic differences.

Yes, Holmes had skill and speed but not an overly impressive amount of power, and Cooney had a lot of power but was lacking in the speed and skill department (especially post prime) .

Spinks didn't have to face a fighter with both power and speed before Tyson. He paid money to get out of one match in which he would have faced someone who had both ( Tony Tucker) so he could face Cooney instead.

I think Spinks would've beaten Tucker. It seems like a money decision to me.

Well there have been many many awkward great fighters and some are among All Time Greats. Off the top of my head I can name some which fit in either category. Some aren't on film but they styles were described as very unusual. Harry Greb was certainly awkward and unusual. Gene Fullmer was way out there, Kid Gavilan was very awkward, as was Henry Armstrong and Jack Kid Berg, I think Ted Kid Lewis was an original stylist. Last off the top of my head for the moment would be James J. Jeffries and also Jack Johnson. All these guys were a bit weird and unusual but every last one of them were very very effective in the ring. ------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- P.S. the name Fred Hennebury comes up as maybe the weirdest looking fighter I ever saw on film, although he wasn't great on a worldwide scale he is certainly one of Australia's greatest fighters and really this guy was a nightmare for anyone to face and he was as tough as any man I've ever seen.

Personally, I wouldn't call Harry Greb's style "weird" of "awkward". From all I have read, Greb was a come forward fighter who threw billions of punches from all kinds of angles. A highly skilled brawler like Duran, a better version of Brandon Rios. Willing to get hit, but at the same time dishing out punishment like nobody else.

Floyd Mayweather throwing combinations looks bizarre at times, mostly because he's not committing to the shots to prevent making himself vulnerable to counters.

Margarito, especially in his later fights. He looked like he had never laced up the gloves before in the Pacquiao fight.

Kermit Cintron, when he became a boxer/puncher later on.

Chris Eubanks seemed like he thought of throwing punches as something that was optional, but not a necessity. Like it was some exotic ritual that he was constantly amused by.

Tim Bradley throwing punches of any kind.

Adamek and Steve Cunningham looked like they'd never fought before when they fought each other.

              Oscar throwing a left hook.

I have read stuff like human windmill and ungainly looking, I am very sure he looked nothing like Duran in the ring, Greb is a pure brawler. I have said often that looks mean zero in this game and that its really about effectiveness. The little film of Greb does show Greb looking aggressive but somewhat ungainly, that does not take away from his record and it does not mean he can't land on fast moving slick boxers. ---------------------------------------------- I have seen other fighters who would have resembled Greb and all of them before the 1950's come around, so many great old timers get criticized for looking ungainly and unskilfull and I always argue that they are wrong, just saw some saying they thought Basilio was skilless which made me cringe. Until a film of Greb comes into existence we can really only guess. I think my biggest dreamfight ever is Greb Vs Darcy who are I believe the best middleweights between Fitzsimmons and SRR.... so please don't get me wrong about Greb, I wouldnt put no bum in against Les Darcy... that'd make me a murderer by proxy, Darcy simply destroys all but the elite of the elite and possibly destroys them too. It's dream fight because Greb is a guy Darcy would find hard to KO and Greb is very unlikely to KO Darcy, it's a fight between the two fastest MW's until at least SRR and Burley arrive. They would also throw a hell of a lot of punches in every round.

Vic 'The Batty Crab' Darchinyan. I figure if we're including guys on the level of Vitali and Froch, Vic has to be thrown in.

                  ATG weird style.

Marty Marshall, the first man to beat Sonny Liston.

He looked like he was playing a game of dodgeball.
