Sonny fortunately has blocked me, so cannot see I have already disputed this claim.

If somebody could ask him for supporting evidence it would be appreciated.

The guy named Clompton who wrote the book on Harry Grebb, in a recent interview i heard from him saying, Doc Kearns, "Never returned the telegrams Grebb's manager sent"... This is now nearly 100yrs later regarded as "DUCKING"...ffs.

Clompton in the same interview described Grebb's fighting style to be similar to a cross between Calzaghe & Mayorga...me personally i don't feel he would have stood much chance of defeating Jack Dempsey.

The film-footage which exists of Grebb, signing to fight Mickey Walker. shows him to be a small guy in height and body size. Dempsey was the size of Holyfield... Calzaghe vs Holyfield?
No he wasn't. Not the heavyweight version of Holyfield.

Here's an opinion of Langford's given in 1935...

That pretty much ends any debate over what Langford actually said.

Gene Tunney was sat ringside at the Norton vs Holmes bout in 1978.. interviewed after the fight, Tunney said "Jack Dempsey would have KOd both in the first round"... Tunney was not joking, he was deadly serious...who are we to say, "Tunney was talking rubbish and is just some old fool"

Ray Arcel - arguably the greatest trainer of all times. Who seen them all from Joe Louis, Marciano, Ali, Tyson etc.. claimed Dempsey was the Greatest fighter who ever lived.
I'll gladly say that. You can sign my name to it.

Well I was referring to Dempsey and Greb. But from what I know about Darcey he definitely deserves consideration.

One thing to consider in this hypothetical match of Dempsey versus Greb is that the style back then was more amenable to fighting with a weight, size disadvantage. One could fight off the back leg, grapple in close, and nullify size advantages to a degree with footwork.

With that said Dempsey was not the guy you wanted to try to out finesse and Grebb was not the finesse type.

People had ought to get over it and stop blocking one another. That is the moderators job. They got rid of jughead, and I have to say that quality of discussion has quickly improved.

Does the "blocking brain" ( I know it is a syndrome related to "blocking finger") ever stop to think that others might be interested in what those blocked have to say? A fight was starting between me and someone the other day. These personal feuds are so uninteresting I forgot where it was and never went back. Good. Who needs it?

Highly importunate trolls are one thing, people who supply actual information along with their opinions are another. Sonny is a shock jock but gives good information from time to time. I don't like sorting through garbage for it, but information tends to be valuable, so I have had to become an expert "picker." Joeandthebums just gave some good information in a Burley thread, information you had to take seriously from credible sources. So what are these guys doing barring each other like madmen? I thought I had detected a lot more steadiness of character than that in Joe, only to wake up one day and discover he had blocked ol' Lefhook himself from a thread. If everyone blocks everyone else, we can still start threads. There will be no replies and no arguments with our sacred opinions.

Agenda driven and lack of supporting evidence results in arguments of ignorance.

I did block several poster for a short period due to the nature of their posts, but once I realised they are unable to post in threads, I unblocked them for the reasons you have already raised.

                      You're original statement was:

So the heavyweight comment is irrelevant and your "evidence" is the following sentence from a Mike Casey article:

"No less an authority as the fearsome Sam Langford praised Dempsey as the greatest heavyweight fighter he ever saw."
I think the burden is still on yourself to provide more substantial evidence to support your claim.
