It looked the best because it was the best. I'm sure Ali could feel the greater heft in Shavers' fists when he landed, on his arms, shoulders, top of his head, wherever. But, Shavers never got off one shot that was as hellacious as the one Joe hit Ali with.

I don't doubt that he used it more than once. I remember him saying it in a 1978 open mic interview where Henry was present. I've seen Henry himself refer to the quote (possibly in the documentary 'Facing Ali').

I remember that Ali got to Ernie at the end of the 15th and had him in trouble. Ali pulled out his left hook and hurt Ernie badly at the end. I'm not trying to be a ****, but I think if Shavers hit the most celebrated fighter of all time with the most devastating punch of his career....it should be instantly recalled what round it happened in and what the punch looked like.

Yep round 2! Ouch!!!

He took 3 decent right hands this round, but the first was the nastiest. His legs buckled and he seemed to grab the top rope to steady himself, then he turned on the clowning. He took two more decent rights before the round ended too.
