Looking at your lists I see some constants, Ali, Robinson, Pep, all great fighters and deserving of their place amongst the fabled top 10. My list is pretty much the same, there's not much variance on who most of us believe to be the best of all time. I'll post my list anyway just cos I like the sound of my own voice (or typing)

    1. Sugar Ray Robinson, can there be anyone else?
    2. Muhammad Ali, the GOAT!
    3. Willie Pep, once won a round without throwing a punch!
    4. Henry Armstrong, almost held 50% of the world titles on offer...
    5. Eligio "Kid Chocolate" Montalvo, one of Cuba's greatest
    6. Benny Leonard, unbeaten at one stage, in almost 150 fights and one of the longest reigning lightweight champions ever
    7. Joe Gans, the first black lightweight champion of the world
    8. Bob Fitzsimmons, criminally underrated
    9. Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., the greatest fighter from one of boxing's greatest nations
    10. "Marverlous" Marvin Hagler

And yes, I refuse to elaborate beyond that!
Using Holmes' dominance to justify a ranking is fine.

How good his jab was and his KO ratio, isn't a way to justify a ranking.

I can understand how Louis doesn't make P4P10 lists, personally.

Depends how high you rate dominance in your criteria, I prefer Ali's, Langford's, Robinson's, Greb's etc awesome wins against the likes of Gans, Tunney, Foreman etc, to weigh more than dominance of a weaker era.

Which is why I feel Charles ranks so highly, he beat Moore 3 times!

Willie Pep winning a round without throwing a punch was found to be untrue from Newspaper reports of the fight it supposedly happened in.

As much as I am a Hagler fan I don't feel he belongs in a Top 10 P4P, especially with the absence of Monzon.

Good enough list... but the bolded three I can't see as top 10 P4P fighters. And Kid Chocolate sticks out like a sore thumb. I have him in my top 50, but besides LaBarba his resume isn't top 10 caliber.

Also can't see how Chavez and Hagler surpass Duran and Charles.

But having Gans there brings a smile to my face.

BTW, Pep never won a round without throwing a punch; that myth has been thoroughly busted.

I wouldn't call Dempsey's competition "mediocre"... but it's certainly not top 10 quality IMO.
