Joe Louis was well schooled and had excellant technique in his punch delivery.
Willie Pep is considered a Master Boxer from his movement to his combination and his blocking and slipping.
Gene Tuney was another fighter that had excellant technique, very well schooled!
I always thought Benny Leonard looked great and did everything really well.
think Lexi Arquello was abit stiff at times but he did so many things beautifully. He dropped a right hand down about as well as it could be done.
Theres alot of very sound boxer in the history of the sport! Ray

"Best" is a very subjective. "One of the better" is so much easier and their are some fine suggestions here among the replies.

Yes!!! Ezzard Charles was the man, a master of not wasting energy.

I seen an interview with James Toney once where he says watching old Ezzard Charles tapes is where he developed his style from.

Joe Louis, Julio Cesar Chavez, and Bernard Hopkins perhaps... Hate to say but I'd also add Floyd Mayweather and James Toney to the list...

Its Hard to say as there are so many techniques out there and some of the best fighters were real unorthodox...

When i think quality technician though i think Mike McCallum , Ricardo Lopez... Guys like that

you guys are gonna kill me for this but howard davis was up there. didn't throw to many body shots but was a fine technical fighter. i saw him guve SRL fits once but couldn't handle the power/ pressure and was a scared fighter who didn't even like to box.
