  • Is Terry Marsh Under-rated?

    Or over-rated? Or does nobody care (probably the most likely option)

    He retired with a record of 26 (10) - 0 - 1, the first fully European boxer to retire undefeated. He only made ONE defence of his title then quit due to epilepsy. He had a very interesting life both before & after boxing.

    Does anyone know if he wrote an autobiography?

    Any man who shoots Frank Warren even with a baby calabre 22 must be rated highly.
    Marsh was pretty good and better than he looked.

      Wouldn't Laszlo Papp be the first European to retire undefeated?

        He's exactly where he should be;

        Not rated by many.

          Great point. I mean world champion but I love the fact that you bought up Papp. I'm sure there were many other European fighters to retire undefeated but none that I know of prior to Marsh who was an alphabet champ.

            His career never really got off so there's not much to rate. Won a belt but then again a lot of people have, an unbeaten record and a belt are not necessarily a sign of greatness as we know.

            I'd say he did well for himself, his name still comes up in many boxing related quizzes as the man who was able to win a title and retire unbeaten.

            As well as his post-boxing career antics.

              While I never saw him fight and he did retire undefeated, there's not many quality wins on his resume and certainly not enough to consider him underrated
