  • Who would be the "Fifth King"?

If any fighter from the same era and weight range were to be added to stand atop the pedestal shared by Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Roberto Duran, and Tommy Hearns, who would it be?

My pick is Wilfredo Benitez. Just curious to see who else you guys think.

I've always considered it the "Fab FIVE" with Benitez included.

Benitez was originally the 4th king. Hagler took that spot later.

There's simply no other satisfactory candidate for that spot though anyway.

I agree with Benitez. The only other name that I can think of that can be put on the discussion list is Salvador Sanchez (assuming he would have climbed to lightweight and maybe welter as he got older). So that's stretching it just a wee bit. :-)

Personally, I think it's Ayub Kalule...

Of course it's Benitez, who else would it be?

Back in the day it was the Fab Four with Leonard, Hearns, Duran and Benitez. As the fighters moved up to junior middleweight and middleweight, few replaced Benitez with Hagler and thats how many now see it.
