I believe no other boxer in history is more discredited than Ray Leonard.

"is more dicredited than Ray Leonard".

      Did you mean "discredited"?
I doubt that, he is a National Champ, Olympic Gold Medalists
and highly established pro boxing Champion. He has obvious skills
      and athletic abilities.
He is a top ten welter but he also only has 40 bouts! Twenty year career with 3 years off isn't very many bouts and I do hold a fighters activity and longevity high when considering their position as a top flight champ and contender.

Quality over quantity. Looking at all the HOF'ers/legends he beat I would not be more impressed with some old jerkoff with 100 wins over forgettable opponents who aren't ATG's.

          Sammy Agnott 3
          Marty Servo 2
          Fritzie Zivic 2
          Maxie Berger
          Kid Gavilan 2
          Ralph Zanelli
          Jose Basora
Henry "Hank" Armstrong .........some of the Welter opponents

not exactly forgettable opponents if you know the history of the welter division. Pretty impressive when you look at the "quality" of welters Leonard fought all THREE of them.

Referring to Sugar Ray as some old jerkoff pretty much explains your knowledge of the sport. Just another "current day fanboy" who can't give credit to anyone who didn't appear in his life time. Ask anyone who actually makes a living in the sport and they'll tell you that Robinson was and is the best boxer ever!

Study the history if you want to have credibility here. Knowing that Gavilan is one the best top ten welters of all time is something every novice boxing historian knows.

my personal thoughts are both individuals are based with amazing skills and physical attributes. I just think that Robinson was just 7 or so pounds larger and had amazing balance do to his leg strength . Both men have had great opponents and have come thru adversity to win , just incredible fighters,

You are a real piece of garbage... You not only had to troll up the section but could not even be bothered to post an original post for the threads you dragged up, using the same ****** post in all threads.

You ought to be banned from this section. This effort shows that you are not interested in even having a contrary opinion so much as muckying up thread... ****** AZZ

I think Robinson was a little taller than Leonard. He was more rangy. Their close in some categories speed, footwork. A decoded edge to Robinson in punching power. His arsenal was explosive with any punch he threw.

If Leonard had an advantage it would be defensively and on the inside.

In all fairness as we know, footage of robinson at his peak at 147 doesn’t exist, at least in any type of salvageable quality. Robinson at 160 in my estimation looked a lot better than Leonard in the same weight category. Perhaps at 147 there wouldn’t be a speed difference. Robinson at 160 can’t be compared to Leonard at 147.

                      - - The Real Sugar handled the middle division with ease in his prime.

Fake Sugar stunk out his only middle fight for a Split Decision. He could never go a 6 fight series like Lamotta did.
