  • What if?

What if in 1994 Micheal Moorer fought Larry Holmes instead of George Foreman? Would Moorer still have lost? If so, how would Holmes' legacy be affected? Would we have gotten to see the geriatric heavyweight championship between Holmes and Foreman, and if so who would have won?

    Interesting topic Jab.

Well Holmes hovers from anywhere between 3-7 as it is but in my experience George usually tops him on a top 10 list. I think that would be reversed, but nothing in the way of taking Louis/Ali's spot as #2 or what have you.

But I do not think he would have beaten Moorer, Holmes didn't have the ability to take advantage of his weakness (chin) like Foreman did with his power.

I think if they had met as old men Larry may have been knocked out, I do not think he would have won since all of his weapons were so rusty while George still had his strength, and plenty of it.

I think Moorer was a good fighter its just his chin that let him down and George was still packing some dynamite in those fists tho all his next bouts went to the cards. I think MM beats Holmes on points but if Larry and George had fought id have taken Larry who still had that excellent jab to bust up and outscore Foreman

I think Holmes would have lost in a similar way that he did to Oliver McCall. He wouldn't hurt Moore and he would tire. But it would be competitive. Moore by decision.

        edit* Holmes decisions Foreman

I don't think Holmes knocks Moorer out. And a decision would be hard to get. But I do know he wins a hell of a lot more rounds than Foreman did (zero), and if he fought Foreman he would definitely take a decision.
