Larry Merchant is the most disrespectful commentator I have ever seen. Floyd, Hamed, Tyson and many others have had problems with Larry Merchant for his constant tirade of hate and disrespect he shows to fighters who pay his salary.
Merchant is interviewing dumb jocks. It's not like he's interviewing someone important. And by the way it's the FANS that pay the salary of both Merchant AND the dumb jocks he interviews. The dumb jocks only pay the salaries of their retinue of asskissers.
I was with ya until you used the term "cherry picker" but that could just be a generational thing. When I was younger, we called it handpicking your opponents and very few fighters had the luxury of doing that. Or the status to do that. Sugar Ray Leonard was one, I guess Floyd is another.
lol I used to say "hand picked" but I'm used to saying cherrypicker now.
and for the generation thing, I agree a lot of fighter now days get away with it where as they wouldn't have before.
Do you have any other words and/or emotions to inject into me? I criticised Mayweather. Nothing more. Nothing less.
I could have sworn the title of this thread is "Mayweather vs Ortiz ..." - not the Life & Times of Chris Eubank. It's a good way of NOT answering the question I asked (now twice). I'll ask it again:
If you don't believe any semblance of sportsmanship either exists or should exist in boxing then why is it we don't see ALL fighters suckerpunching an opponent in such fashion every time an apology is made for a low blow, head butt etc. Indeed, why do fighters apologise full stop?
Are you feeling ok? Did you not read the bit where I said I have no problem criticising Eubank's misdemeanours? In any case you'll have to explain HOW Eubank could possibly be the "Worst sportsman - ever". I mean, we're talking a long, long time here. And you're including not just boxing.
Good luck answering that one. LOL.
ROFLMAO! I think we know who the nuthugger here is.
You just seem very biased against Mayweather, i apologise if i'm wrong.
I believe in being a fan of boxing not just certain boxers.
and Eubank was a perfect example to bring up cos he talks non stop b*llocks,
he's disrespectful (at times) and he has used suckerpunching as a strategy more than once.
And i think the best way to answer your question about sportsmanship is to say i would have punched ortiz just like mayweather did if i was in his shoes
And i agree a lot of fighters wouldn't do that and no one wants to win in that
fashion even a classless guy like mayweather, but some times you got to what you gotta do
Arguello was the definition of class.
And against bazooka limon he got pissed of at limons constant cryin to the ref
and he trys to catch him as he's lookin to the ref with a loaded up right.
Is arguello a bad sport?? NO HE ISN'T
Thats just boxing. As i said before this is pro boxin you gotta take your chances some time.
Obviously you've watched very little of Eubank.....

Actually poet i saw most of his fights when they actually happend.
Eubank had some sick fights, and i def respect his performances when he was old and takin on the savage punching carl thompson BUT i find him to be an arrogant **** talking pr*ck and i always thought he is very over rated.
I thought the first Benn fight could have gone a bit longer, he straight robbed him the second time as well as a couple of other fighters.

Overrated compared to who? Hatton, the definition of "crude overrated club-fighter"? Or maybe Calzaghe who spent his career avoiding anyone with a pulse? Or Farl Croch who basically feasts on Eurofrauds but needs hometown cooking to steal a win from a fraud like Dirrell.
And since when is being arrogant an issue with a top fighter? Lennox Lewis was arrogant as ****. So was Roy Jones. So were dozens of ATG level fighters I could name off the top of my head. Ali proclaimed HIMSELF "The Greatest".....that isn't arrogant? It may very well be accurate but it's still arrogant for him to say it.

I agree Hatton was a bum and Calzaghe was a coward.
And Froch you could say robbed Dirrel, But Froch don't duck fighters the way
Eubank did, Cos lets be honest Eubank has poor stamina and can't take body shots and throws wild telegraphed yet feather fisted punches, so the likes of Michael Nunn, Mike Mcallum and James Toney would have kod him with ease, but he was afraid to fight them.
And while where on the subject of robbery Eubank robbed several fighters did he not??
And actually i was comparing him to middleweight champs when i was saying he's overrated i don't know why you brought up hatton and calzaghe........
And Lennox is another one who comes across like a d*ckhead.
And to be honest I don't care what a fighter says if he can back it up which for me Eubank never really did. And to clear up what i'm saying for you i was more trying to make the point that Eubanks talk makes him come across as the the least likeable fighter iv ever had the misfortune to watch.
The whole reason Eubank came up in the first place is some guy with Eubank as his avy was complainin about mayweathers sucker punch and sportsmanship. And in my eyes if your a Eubank fan you shouldn't ever complain about sucker punches or sportsmanship....

I'd imagine the dumb jocks that Merchant interviews are just as smart as the "important people" that run the country we live in...
You just seem very biased against Mayweather, i apologise if i'm wrong.

This is just absurd. If I had a penny for each time I have praised Mayweather's abilities I'd be sunning myself somewhere on the French Riviera. Criticising Floyd Mayweather and being biased against Floyd Mayweather are not the same - unless you're particularly insecure. Indeed, if there is bias here it is patently obvious where it lies.
and Eubank was a perfect example to bring up cos he talks non stop b*llocks,
he's disrespectful (at times) and he has used suckerpunching as a strategy more than once.
Why do you continue to bring Chris Eubank into a discussion about Floyd Mayweather? Let me put it another way - if you cannot justify Floyd's actions WITHOUT referring to a fighter ten years past retirement then you really need another argument.
And i think the best way to answer your question about sportsmanship is to say i would have punched ortiz just like mayweather did if i was in his shoes
And i agree a lot of fighters wouldn't do that and no one wants to win in that

Cool. So let's go over this again. I criticise Mayweather for suckerpunching Ortiz. You say he didn't break any rules. I point out that I never said he did - but in boxing, just as in all sports, there is an unwritten code of ethics which he certainly breached. You ,in-between calling me biased, a crybaby, a slavish supporter of every word and deed of Chris Eubank (how further from relevance to the subject matter can we get?) say that boxing is unlike any other sport and thus Floyd didn't break any unwritten rules. I argue that fighters don't usually suckerpunch each other and that some form of ethical code is clearly observable. You now ADMIT that "a lot of fighters wouldn't do that" (contradicting your earlier assertion that boxing is unlike any other sport and no code of ethics exists).
