Even tho he didnt have to prove it often i seen enough to know his chin was ok.
After his HW adventure things changed, also his age comes into play, his decline had been slow and subtle before his return to the LHW vs Tarver but it was there if u looked close enough. His reflexes had dulled just enough that shots he'd have ridden in his prime connected more solidly and he didnt see shots coming he might have done before. Roy had an ok chin I Think anyway. Definitely not a Hagler-esque chin but not the glass he is packing today
The thing is that a guys chin declines from accumulated punishment, outisde of the last three rounds of Jones-Tarver I, the dude rarely got hit.

Manny Steward during the pre fight talk for Jones Tarver III said that if a fighter is koed twice in a close space of time than they can get some form of brain injury, which causes their punch resistance to decline.

Off topic: Those early Hagler losses are highly questionable
Roy's chin and everything else basically fell off a cliff after coming down from heavyweight Stevie Wonder could see that.

        Who are you talking about?

But really I can't take anybody seriously who actually believes that absolutely incredible dumb idea that Leonard a blown up welterweight, coming out of retirement, in his first fight at middleweight was more durable than Roy Jones Jr
Great fighters can come from any era, why do you have to link it with "older"?

          I don't see the problem

Erik Morales took Maidana's attacks better than Khan, a natural Welterweight. Chins can be transferable across different weight classes. But in theory a naturally bigger man should be able to take more, which Roy Jones was.

How does cutting weight for a fight decrease your punch resistance? You lose your punch resistance from accumulated punishemnt to the head.

a good way to decrease punch resistance would be to take a couple of punches to the head while you are dehydrated

Losing weight that much weight at 35 years old with 50 pro fights, more than half of them being championship fights can change everything.

The problem for the Tarver fight was that he was worried he would bloat up in weight like Toney did, so he ended up going to the other extreme and hardly rehydrated himself after making weight.
