Long enough to find Vitali's heart, and take it.

Rocky never lost to ANYONE, let alone to the likes of Chris Byrd and a fading fast Lennox Lewis. The Rock would find a way to win, and Vitali would find a way to lose.

So Rocky was undefeated equals him winning even the most unfavorable of match-ups?

i think if he gets stopped it would be on cuts and swelling

you cant go forward against that being his size
you just cant. not against somebody who knows how to fight tall and has skills.
and can tie you up WITH EASE.

an average plodder today would proably get blown away by the pace and lose on activity alone, if not get horribly worn down and stopped. body punching. old school. it would be a lot easier in a 15 round fight.

but that's not going to happen against vitali klitschko
and if you can, your only realistic chance is going to be a knockout, and vitali has a great chin that has taken bombs that rocky could never generate

against wladimir, however, i'd give rocky a much better chance
again, its probably going to end with his face destroyed win lose or draw
but wladimir still has lapses when his opponent comes forward and he looks to clinch
      and his chin isn't spectacular
      Good well thought out post.

didnt marciano get knocked down by moore ?

Marciano gets overrated because of his Undefeated record.
He did indeed. But in fairness it was Rockys last fight.

Marciano's Resume Of Wins>>>>>>Vitali Resume Of Wins. IMO!
This thread is about head to head. Not resumé.

It's really hard to say. Marciano was only about 5ft 10 and 185 lbs. Vitali would tower over him. But, you cannot fault a man who was the only heavyweight champion never to lose. My guess is that if the fight were held now and Rocky was well trained with modern equip... He'd come in at a higher weight, ripped and ready to go. He'd give away the first half of the fight but still land some vicious shots to the head and body. Vitali would get in his licks but start to wear down. The fight would be over by TKO somewhere between rounds 8-10...

Rocky retired a whole bunch of ATG's. He fought them at a time when they where well over the hill.

The 6'8 Vitali would have big difficulties landing solid punches on Rocky. It would be an awkward fight.
Marciano was indeed very tough, but Sosnowski did take one hell of a beating indicating that his not that bad himself.

Even though Sosnowski is smallish I dont recall him winning more than a round. I dont think you can say that Vitali has problems with small fighters based on Sosnowski doing fairly well with a near 40 year old Vitali.

The fight could be awkward yes, but it could also be a barnburner. Marciano will definetely press the action relentlessly and Vitali wouldnt be afraid to slug it out.

If you've had a suspect chin, you CAN'T win any fights against the old greats Battling, just face it.... Not even granite chin and mean fighters like Vitali, who obviously can't lose (shoulder injury and Lewis loss, he had to take the fight with like 3 weeks warning)....

                    One question bat...

If I ask a 6'8" man to hit a guy who is effectively 5'6" do you think it will be easy? I do not think that Vitaly is overly skilled. And secondly while we all know how well Vitaly can take in the chin, we have never seen him being tested by a good body puncher.. . I do think Rocky slips inside and gives Vitaly's body a good pounding. How Vitaly takes it is a matter of conjecture....but in classic 15 rounder I do see him losing in points.

Nice to have your input here g42.

You raise a good point. Rocky was an excellent bodypuncher and he wouldnt mind taking some stick to get in and deliver some punishment.

Is not like it would be easy as Vitali is good at using his height and reach and you can say that he hasnt been tested properly by a good bodypuncher, but I can just as validly say that Rocky didnt fight a physical specimen close to Vitalis stature.

I said that you bring a point, but to put forth one of the old myths from boxing I'd say that a good big man beats a good little man. At least in this match-up.
