some people take awkward to mean a guy that is "hard to get at", some people take it to mean a style that is just hard to work with in general.

I've always been fascinated with guys that didn't have much power but could win tough fights because they had a difficult style. I remember reading about an old philly fighter named Johnny Ja**** who was a light hitter but could hang with the best because he was in shape and just all over the place all the time. Canzoneri fought him a couple times and they asked him what gave him so much trouble, he was lost for words but said "There's just something about thatguy!"

That actually reminds me a little of Sam Sauliman ha! Not the being from Philly part, but just being able to hang in fights off of sheer condition and awkwardness.

                      richard the alien grant

best remembered for getting his tong chopped in half after taking a sucker punch from james butler when he was trying to give him a ****ing hug after a hard fight /(which grant won on the cards in one of the best victories of his career)

the fight was a benefit put on by ESPN for friday night fights to raise money for firefighters in 9/11

                      butler went to jail
and when he got out he was befriended by the brother of max kellerman who took him in to his home
and butler killed him with a hammer when kellerman told grant he planned to make him leave the home
