What's with all the hate for Chavez?

He turned out to be a big crybaby when things didn't go his way. Also there are many stories about him being a piece of crap as a person. Fair or not. some of the hate may come from his controversial win over Taylor.

Yup, Chavez had a numbe of faults. Fans also tend to hold it against fighters when they get gift decisions even though they had no control over it, and the Whitaker decision always left a very bad image in peoples mind.

Also, I wasnt a boxing fan at the time, but I imagine that his fans were unbelievably annoying. A guy that went so long undefeated with so many fights...people probably overrated the hell out of him at the time, and were calling him the GOAT, and so on...

ironically I think that all backfired and some people tend to underrate him a little now, in retaliation for all his diehard worshipping fans.

I can't believe that I forgot to factor in the Whitaker decision after the Taylor fight. Fans are still bitter about that one. It gets mentioned everytime there is a really bad decision in boxing.

Winky Wright
and a few others, can't really think right now.

I fighter I used to dislike quite a lot but don't mind at all now is Shane Mosley.
