Longevity isn't something that I give too much weight in making a list as I feel that there are many contributing factors that can effect longevity and that shouldn't effect what a fighter does during the time he is at his absolute best.

      1. Muhammad Ali
      2. Joe Louis
      3. Jack Dempsey
      4. Rocky Marciano
      5. Joe Frazier
      6. Mike Tyson
      7. George Foreman
      8. Sonny Liston
      9. Larry Holmes
      10. Jack Johnson
I like Dempsey as much as the next guy, but defending your title 5 times in 6 years hurts his all time ranking as does never facing Wills.

Tyson at 6, really? You won't rank Lewis but put Tyson sixth.....baffling.

Frazier is a great, but with only 32 wins and 4 losses in 5 fights against the 2 best fighters he ever faced I don't think he belongs higher than ten. I am willing to re-evaluate my own rankings with the possibility of bringing into the tenth spot.

Marciano is one of my all time favorite fighters but he gets way overrated because of the undefeated record. You see fit to pick LL's comp apart but for some reason overlook Marciano's and rank him 4th. Please explain my friend.

Jab every fighter on the list above is eon's greater than Lennox Lewis and it is you who should be explaining how Lennox is greater than any of the legitimate greats listed above.

How was Tyson greater, by losing to Douglas at 23 and facing lesser opponents?

How about Dempsey? A lot of nostalgia there, but fighting 5 times in 6 years, never facing the top rated fighter who had been there for years, and making your name on mostly lightheavyweights?

I'd be happy to compare Lewis and Marciano's respective comp.

After a little more consideration I decided to leap frog Frazier over Dempsy for the number eleven spot.

            12. Dempsey
            11. Frazier
            10. Marciano
            9. Holyfield
            8. Liston
            7. Tyson
            6. Foreman
            5. Lewis
            4. Johnson
            3. Holmes
            2. Ali
            1. Louis

I started watching boxing in the late late 80s and early 90s. I think Holyfield should be ranked higher then Lewis.

Lol, I knew you were going to put Frazier ahead of Dempsey.

That should be interesting. It seems Lewis gets scorned for beating a (allegedly) shot Holyfield and Tyson, while Marciano's career highlights are beating Charles, Walcott, and Moore. All of them were older and had considerably more mileage than Tyson or Holyfield.

Marciano won 6 fights against Atgs, and never lost a fight. Lewis won 3 against Atgs, And lost 2 against Rahman and Mccall.

Slapping an "ATG" label on them doesn't make them all the same. And two of Marciano ATG's were because they were great lightheavyweights. If you isolate Charles and Moore at heavyweight, they weren't quite all time greats. The two losses definitely seperate the two, but this was specifically about the level of competition they faced.

As for comparing what they actually did vs their historical impact it just makes sense in my opinion.
