What I meant to say is how much does putting lots of snap behind your punches help?

Heavy handed fighters are usually slower compared to explosive punchers. EG Maidana is heavy handed and Khan is explosive,

I rather be explosive. If the speed is there, you can learn how to use it and hit people with things they don't see coming.

I don't really know much about that. I have heard boxers refer to snap on their punches quite a bit. I always assumed it was just speed. I always looked at punching as speed and having a braced stance and punch plus weight. It seems like many boxers who have high hand speed are not big punchers. Could just be that they all don't have a very braced punch or stance. I started thinking that all these big punchers that don't seem to have much hand speed might be generating speed later on in the punch. But it could be wrong . What do you think snap on punches is?

I think it requires very good form to have a lot of snap on your punches.

When I look at someone like Floyd Jr who has a lot of snap, I see good form. A heavy handed lad like Cotto doesn't look like he has much snap behind his blows, his form doesn't look great either.

When I was learning how to punch, I was told to focus on the bringing my hand back to my guard portion of it. I know other people who focus on "punching through".

So pulling the punch back fast is what they mean by punches with snap? I don't really understand how that causes more damage. Maybe it could cause cuts though I dont really understand how that works.

When I was new, I tried to "force" my punches to be hard. I was told to "work on the speed" instead.

I think I understand what you mean by snap now. Keeping loose exsept for the fist. Is that what you mean?

I mean I think you need good form to generate lots of snap behind your punches.

Who are the good knock out punchers that you consider to have good snap on their punches?
