Hopkins couldnt miss the right hand against tarver that night, was a good display from him
I got around to watching the hbo countdown for Hopkins Tarver, it says that a Toney fight was available for Tarver at hw, but he chose to take the Hopkins fight instead. Even if he had lost to toney, his rep wouldnt of suffered as much as it did by losing to Hopkins(a mw jumping up two divisions)

Calzaghe had a unique style shame that the smw was lacking in competitive fights when he arrived on the scene

Hopkins looked more comfortable at LHW imo, surprised it took two losses to taylor for him to jump up in weight

Calzaghes resume is slightly lacking, but i dont think its completely his fault like a lot of people do

He admitted in the ring magazine that he was struggling to make weight during the last couple of years at mw

The only top opponent out there for him was Frankie Liles. All the other guys were not that good

Its a shame Hopkins didnt go through with the fight that him and calzaghe had signed in 2001,A younger version of Bhop would have enhanced joes resume a fair bit

Hopkins obviously saw the fight as too high risk, even though his mw belt wouldnt of been on the line

I also think that Calzaghe would of beat that version of Hopkins(with a fair ref)

Calzaghe was seen as high risk-low reward

A more active hopkins would have suited calz imo,he was very cagey as he got older and that presented joe with problems

The tactics he uses are illegal and Cortez should of clamped down on them from round 1. It would of been a great fight though, shame it didnt happen

Hopkins often gets a pass for his dirty tactics

And Americans complain about fighting in Germany, lol
Hopkins should have quite a few dq losses on his record: Winky, Holmes, Calzaghe and Echolls II
