Just now came across some footage of Sam Langford fighting Joe Jeannette. That's definitely the rarest so far.

It's free on the internet, but registration is a pain.

Currently I'm only trying to get it to work. When it does, I'll give you the details on how to get it to play. I've heard it's the legitimate film, 15 minutes of it. Unfortunately you must first register on the site before being able to download it and the validation process can take some time.

              Here it is:

All thanks to hegrant for the upload. Might surprise a few folks who think the early 1900's fighters were a bunch of cavemen.

Yeah wasn't that the only one not recorded? I remember ESPN Classic had a disclaimer saying either the person to record it didn't show up or another rumor was that they didn't think Tyson looked that good so it was supposedly destroyed.

What was the deal with that fight anyway, does anyone know the truth about it?

Anyway, to answer the quesion, the only fight I can think of that I have that might be considered rare would be Miguel Cotto vs. Waklimi Young but Cotto's a current boxer, so don't know if that would really be considered rare.

Langford was excellent at slipping punches and creating room when he had his man hurt. Nice find my friend, and thank you.

One thing besides the fight which really stood out to me was the ring looked like it was going to fall over. I can't imagine fighters back then relishing the opportunity to fight of the ropes.
