I think there's a big difference for an audience to see a legend like Holyfield splattered on the canvas than seeing Williams and Briggs. I'd think Holyfield would have the sympathy and Vitali may be seen as the villain but again it's subjective. You might not care as much as others would.

They were both Ring ranked contenders during these years. Could Vits or Wlad not have fought him then? Um Holyfield was Ranked by ring magazine on 2002 as was Vitali. Where was the offer for VK to fight Holyfiled? Oh that right there was none. Stick to the Dallas Cowboys.

I am talking about opponents beat while Vitali was ranked. You know the men Vitali had offers to fight. Tyson was supposed to fight VK. But Willams and Tyson performace ruined it.Tyson was KOd. Holyfield never had received and offer nor did he offer him anything when he was ranked to fight VK. Nor was there demand for the fight when Holyfield was active. You are now implying that Vitali's motive for not considering a Holyfield fight in the latter stages of Evander's career would have been to avoid being cast as the villain.
This directly contradicts your earlier statement in which you found him to be taking an honourable stance being solicitous of Evander's fading abilities.

Beating up an outclassed opponent or one clearly past his prime results in the same ending a prolonged thrashing because of ,either lack of talent , or eroded ability Whichever it is ,as in the case of the Williams and Briggs fights they are cherry picks.

You have no idea what offers Holyfield or Vitali had.Holyfield several times indicated his interest in a VK fight.
VK was happy to fight a totally washed up Tyson,but journeyman Williams got there first, allowing VK to take yet another cherry pick against him!
