There was never going to be any sensible discussion in this thread, atleast not after insisting that Calzaghe would destroy Charles in the early rounds and that the stoppage wins over Mario Veit and Will McIntyre are somehow proof of this awesome power he supposedly had, while calling me (an European) biased for not acknowledging an European boxer (who is actually an American clubfighter) as a big win for Calzaghe.

Your reputation as a knowledgeable boxing fan is in ruins, unless you come out and say what everyone already knows, that you were just joking around and winding people up.
Uhh what are you talking about? Ezzard Charles's chin is questionable at best. He was knocked down in several matches multiple times. And Calzaghe doesnt need awesome power to get a stoppage, in fact I picture the ref stopping it when Calzaghe jumps on him.

Also people say the Reid fight was controversial...find me 6 rounds Reid won. Ive seen every Calzaghe fight and he beat Reid easily. One judge, just one judge who has had several controversial decisions scored it for Reid. Everyone else, 2 judges, commentators, ringside scorers had it for Joe C. 116-111 is what everyone else had which isnt controversial. Only controversial thing was the one judge who had it 111-116, that was insane. But I ask for 6 rounds Reid won.

If you were a European you would probably stop referring to yourself as "an European" cause you wouldnt use "an" in front of a word that starts with the linguistic "y." I dont care about grammar but you do it repeatedly which leads me to believe that you think thats the correct form.

And if Joe was fighting club fighters 90% of Ezzard Charles's opponents were club fighters.

Bringing up the Bhop fight? 1. again, Joe was 35, if you want to discuss what Charles was doing at 35 we can. 2. He was held and headbutted the entire fight and on foreign soil Joe still won.

OMG at 36 Joe was knocked down? At least he wasnt brutally KO'ed by Young Jack Johnson.

Chris Eubank, Jeff Lacy, Mikkel Kessler...heck 90% of Joe Calzaghes opponents had higher KO ratios. Jeff Lacy when he fought Joe was called "little mike tyson." Sure now hes ruined and he cant throw his best punch, but this forum keeps tons of old posts, Id love for you to bump your posts saying Lacy couldnt punch before he fought Calzaghe.

And 1999 joe had no problem making 168 and stayed right around weight. He trained and still trains everyday.

So this is a bait thread because I have a different opinion than you...

And poet is allowed to troll because this was a bait thread

So I can clearly go into Sonnyboys sam peter thread and post whatever I want right?

    Hilarious

Thanks for the tip about grammar but the rest of your post is ignorant and pointless rambling that is not worth responding to. As a Finn I tend to spell "European" with just "e", not a "y" sound as an actual English person would do. I find myself not using the word "european" at all except in these forums as there is a huge difference between being Finnish and French for example. Europe is not a nationality, it's a continent.

It's only when people say that I'm somehow biased against "Europeans", usually people who do not live in the continent themselves, that I defend myself.

You are an educated fool outside of boxing too. You use your knowledge in a ridiculous way, just like you do with boxing.

Wouldn't that mistake be a good sign of a non native speaker? or of someone who writes in english, more than he speaks it?

Yeah I hear you... it's also sad that Roy is fighting in 3 weeks...

Yeah, when people start that crap about "GreatA is biased against Euros" or else insinuate that you're American I get the incredible urge to scream "HE'S FROM FINLAND YOU NIMRODS!!!!!". The inanity of some of these people knows no limits. Thank God you can hold your own with these idiots and with far more patience than I possess GreatA.

What the heck does that have to do with it. THere are plenty of contrarians out there in this world. I for one have nothing to do with Europe. I am from South Africa, but lived in America most of my life. So...therefore that means if I say that Joe Calzaghe a Brit/Italian is better than Ezzard Charles an African American...I must be correct, because being actually from Africa and havign American citizenship why would I put down an African American over a brit? That dont make no sense.

Clearly people like who they like and he himself admits that he sees a huge difference between the European countries so maybe he isnt anti-Euro, just maybe he's anti Brit and Ukranian. There are big time fighters who used to train at the gym I trained at...that doesnt mean I like them or respect them over some guy that was born 3000 miles away.

In America football is the biggest sport by far. Nothing even close. The biggest college football rivalry is Ohio State vs. Michigan. Each school packs in over 106,000 people to every game they play, not just against eachother, but just every game they play. Their scrimmages average 75,000 fans. Go to Michigan or Ohio and you will see tons of people wearing the opposite teams jersey. Why? Because they are contrarians, because they like to start stuff and because they like to feel different.

Or maybe it's just that I don't think Mario Veit and Will McIntyre (who is American by the way) were very good fighters and that Joe Calzaghe wouldn't blow out Ezzard Charles in 3 rounds. Did that ever come across your mind?

Why does there always have to be some kind of "bias"?

I pick Charles' fine technique and clean punching over Calzaghe's workrate and pittypat punching any day of the week.
