Boxing fan these these days are making me hate Ray Leonard, but in all reality, I see him as a businessman doing his thing, like Mayweather. Not my idols, but no real dislike either.
Why's that? I always thought you liked those guys. Surely some ****** fans aren't enough to put you off the reasons you did like them in the first place. It's not as if he has fans like Klitscko does...or even Mayweather and Pacquiao.

I am fine with their being business first, and I defend them when they are called cowards and whatnot.

The thing is that many times, I read some idiot writing "Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a coward, I wish he was a true warrior like Ray Leonard". I had to explain so many times why of Mayweather was not a true warrior (whatever that means) neither was Leonard, that I developed a distaste for Leonard, made easy by his beating my very first boxing idol Marvin Hagler.

In reality, I literally love watching Leonard (and Mayweather too). Leonard-Duran 1, and Leonard-Hearns 1 are among the fights I watched most times (I entered double digits a while ago ). I am in awe of their smart way of fighting, and their ability to adapt.

But in terms of business first attitude Leonard was simply the good-boy-all-american-smile version of what Mayweather is today.

          Rocky Marciano

Great champion, hard puncher, undefeated, exciting to watch, good to his friends and family, dedicated to the sport, strong character outside the ring.

          Least Favorite

Probably Edwin Valero, for what he did to his pretty young wife.
Good call on Valero: I had almost forgotten about that creep.

I'll be interested to hear how there's anything wrong with betraying a creep like Malcolm X.

Jersey Joe Walcott is my favorite fighter (I think, if I have to name one). He was a very versatile fighter, extremely clever, great counterpuncher, but he could do it all in the ring, brawl, box, counter. He was also a bit of a showman, he would showboat in his own way, shoeshined a bit. His defense and the subtility of all he could do is awesome. Great power in both hands. Just a great fighter. His first fight against Marciano is a classic, he was really battering Rocky at times.

***if JJW was a food, he would be something real slick

Then I have to name 2 boxers I really dislike.

                      Vitali K. and Aaron Pryor.

I dislike Vitali because of the Lewis debacle, because he quit against Byrd, for his ugly footwork, I dislike the fact that his mouth is wide open from round 1 to the last, I dislike his style, his poor resume, his brotherhood thing.

*** if Vitali was a fodd, he would be a stiff cucumber, no doubt

I'm well aware Pryor is a great fighter, but dude acts like a real jerk when he gets put on his ass, not exactly a class act. I saw him get put on his ass once and he bounced right back up and attacked his opponent instead of waiting for the count as he should have (another fight than the one showcased below).
