Fringe contenders perhaps, but not journeyman.A journeyman is what Brewster is now.
I can agree with this. Fair enough.

I'd love to take up the debate. There's things I don't know about the oldtimers, but I just believe they are overrated. As the sport has evolved in both speed, size and technique.
You would sure school me in some eras, and I'd like to learn and discuss my points of view at the same time.
No my friend your writing is definitely civil. But when two sides don't see things the same a public debate can sometimes turn into a pissing contest. Im not the most knowledgeable poster on these boards but feel free to PM anytime and we can discuss why we believe we're right on certain issues.

The cruiserweight rule changed in 2003, and if there was a weight minimum I highly doubt any governing body would have allowed RJJ to weigh in in STREET CLOTHES. What are you talking about. The only weight limit theres ever been on heavies is 175 thats it. Find some cite that says otherwise. The only reason why guys who are smaller dont fight at HW is why would they? They are at a huge disadvantage which is why cruiser was invented.

"Jones (47-1, 39 KOs) will have a 7½-inch reach disadvantage and will be outweighed by 33 pounds after scaling 193 at Thursday's weigh-in fully clothed and wearing sneakers"- Wow sounds like Jones's HW belt should be stripped from the records...hes a cheater...street clothes and shoes...no way was he over 190..

        Knocked out.

          That is pathetic.

Vitali would never lose to a blown up LHW.

Open mouth, insert foot. I guess Chris Byrd's name doesn't ring a bell, does it? At least Louis was shot when he lost those to fight two two all time greats. He went out like a man. Vitaly QUIT against a former middleweight.

Wow internet tough guy here questioning if a guy who has fought over 100 professional fights is a man. What have you done? This is straight up trolling.

Again, why did they let RJJ weigh in in street clothes and shoes if he had to get over 190 lbs and that was the rule. That doesnt seem very fair. He clearly was under 190. So RJJ cheated?

No fighter is allowed to compete for a title while not weighing in within that divisions limits unless otherwise specified in contractual agreements and given permission by the sanctioning organization. No such stipulation was specified nor authorized in Jones vs Ruiz. At the time of Jones vs Ruiz the cruiser weight limit was 190lbs which made Jones a legit heavy at 193.

You say cruiser was invented because fighters were at a disadvantage. I submit it was created to have another title and more sanctioning fees. The exact same reason there are so many super and junior divisions today.

              You've been owned son!

So why did they let Jones weigh in with street clothes and shoes on. So mayweather could weight in with weights tied around him and reach 190.

The heavyweight divisions limit is 175 and up, find me something that says its not. you didnt. And find me something that says the crusier weight limit at the time of Jones Ruiz was 190. It changed in 2003 and the WBA allowed fighters to move up that year.

But yeah, so you can weigh in while in street clothes and shoes...but YOU HAVE TO BE ABOVE 190. Jones wasnt above 190, he weighed in fully dressed. He probably was 188. So he cheated correct.

heck why doesnt vitali weigh in with balloons tied to him and go down to light heavyweight.

I notice you didnt mention the fact that jones weighed in fully clothed with shoes on, nor did you cite anything.

                  Knocked out again.

So theres a strict minimum weight limit for heavies, but you can weigh in fully clothed, heck Jones had stuff in his pockets. He could have had weights and rocks. What a joke.

and again no cite. Also the cruiserweight division came about when the guys from the 70s were still fighting and every article and reason put forth was about how guys who weighed 180lbs had no chance against guys weighing 220 and such.
