I want to get your overall thoughts on Bruce Lee. Your thoughts on his legacy, the impact he left etc.

Lee was also a big fan of boxing, his favourites included the likes of Joe Louis, Willie Pep & Jim Driscoll. He was also Hong Kong amateur amatuer boxing champion.

Alot of ATG boxers also looked up to him etc Ray Leonard.

              facinateing topic

Hi there,I signed up a year or so ago,and love reading everyones opinions on our great fighters. I am big Hearns fan,and can watch his fights over and over. Always exciting . When I saw this topic on Bruce Lee I had to jump in. We hear all the pros and cons of the man. And watch his movies and such, and he looks awesome, but what can movies really prove?.Sure he was very quick and powerful and such on there. But regardless of what we see on yutube or whatever. I think when we hear of who he was from those who really knew him,and had seen him. Those are the opinions of the ones we need to listen to. For the most part, they were in true awe of him. Chuck Norris when asked if he faced off against himself remarked,HE WAS GOOD! If he fought professionally (probobly martial arts,) he would probobly be champ. But as far as who would win against himself,,Chuck said WE DID'NT WANT TO GO THERE. He ,Bruce, and Bob Wall hung out together years back. Bob was a world famous martial artist (who appeared as Ohara in Enter the dragon, and Way of the Dragon with Bruce) with Chuck in the early 70s. Bob and some others mentioned that Bruce had several fierce encounters with formidable people in which he whipped the floor with. There are interviews from people that knew him and students of his, that were truly convinced that he was in another level of competition above the best. As a boxer though? who knows.

In the ring, chuck with all the rules would have the upper hand. But on the street where there were no rules,Bruce would. One man (Bey Logan and John Benn was in one of Bruces movies),I think Jon Benn was doing the interview, mentioned he was inteviewing Norris, and when asked on Bruce of who would win,He stated Bruce would of course,no one could beat him. It's on yutube.

These quotes have to be taken in context. Ray is talking about his idol who has passed away, of course he is going to say stuff like that, but how can he possibly know half of them? "The power he was able to generate was unbelivable"-How can he know this? Based on what? Watching Bruce Lee movies?

Bruce Lee could fight-What does he mean by this? Does he mean he could hold his own against skilled pro fighters? Personally I think the guys to ask are:Gene Lebell, Mike Stone and Joe Lewis. Those guys knew him and trained with him
