john ruiz is only half an inch shorter than holyfield so i don't think the size would be such a terrific problem.
roy is a lot faster and is simply a better boxer than holyfield. i guess i am a bit biased since i absolutely do not like holyfield but i still think roy takes it by UD. unless he gets knocked out by headbutts.
My immediate reaction was to pick Holyfield on sheer workrate and comfort at the weight.
However, the best version of Jones at light heavyweight in the 90s wouldn't need to put on much weight to compete at cruiserweight whilst retaining much of his amazing attributes. He wouldn't sacrifice too much mobility or his own workrate in my opinion if he did this near his prime in his late 20s.
I'll stick out my neck on this one and predict a sneeky close decision win for Roy. But I'd be by no means certain of the outcome.
I think ya'll be(as they say on this hip hop forums) underrating the speed of Evander Holyfield. Was he as fast as Roy Jones? Probably not.but he did have tremendous handspeed and excellent timing.
Holyfield wasn't some crude pressure fighter with a good chin, the guy was an excellent boxer and a great counter puncher when he chose to be.

Yeah...
Maybe I'm giving RJ a little too much credit, but he carried up to heavyweight pretty damn well, so cruiserweight in his prime wouldn't be a problem. I'm probably dead wrong, because Holyfield at cruiserweight was amazing, but at the very least Holyfield would really have to work for it and Jones might just win it.

What would Jones do as Holyfield eventually got inside (which he would)?. He couldn't seriously hurt Ruiz, so I'd be shocked if he had enough power to stop Holyfield from coming in close (who had one of the best chins and would be at his best weight). Holyfield had no problems cutting off the ring against fast movers and i just don't think Jones would be ready to deal with someone like Evander who would be in his chest and stay there.
