I have to agree. Look at McCallum's body work in his wins over Milt McRory and Michael Watson. Also, Duran at 135 was a helluva bodypuncher. Look how he wore down fleet footed boxers like Lampkin and Fernandez, and he ripped over a hundred bodyshots in the first Leonard fight.

Whitaker and McClellan were not in the same universe as Hearns when it came to body punching. Hitman's left hooks to the body were fierce!!!!!!

How so ?, they was all ATG body punchers, who could all be # 1 :P, only reason I mentioned Sweet Pea is because of a topic in NSB which said he was the best.

And it was 2AM when I made the poll, maybe wasn't thinking straight :P, Joe Louis, Carlos Palomino and Ruben Olivares have got a mention to.

Ill go ahead and say Carlos Palomino....Ive never seen someone with such powerful body punches, they were nasty.

In terms of overall effectiveness and not just damage, Ill go ahead and say Julio Cesar Chavez or Mike McCallum. although they didnt often get body punch KOs, there were almost no other fighters who could sap the life out of thier opponents with body punches quite like them.

Agreed. If Tommy had focused a little more on body punching he may have been known as the best ever at it. I can't recall to many fighters who did more damage downstairs. He looked like he was chopping down a tree against Iran Barkley, before getting stopped. How Barkley too those shots is amazing.
