Impressed by the hate on Floyd Mayweather on this board.

Listening to you poet, every fighter in the game is shot or overrated. U're not the only one who's like that, it's just the mentality of most people in boxing. Pacquiao, Cotto, Mayweather, Klitschko, Calderon, Bradley, Hatton, DLH, Mosley all have been called either shot or overrated or both.
That means everytime you're gonna see one of the top guys getting praises from the experts in the game, you'll have people refusing to believe what they see. What i'd say is " Don't believe the hype, just believe what you see." Cotto overrated is a ****in joke; he proved his point for 6 years now, fighting and walking through the best fighters in the Jr.WW and WW division. Those divisions were better in the last decade but compared to who Cotto is underrated? Quintana? Clottey? Berto? Malignaggi? Cotto's resume(wins) in both weight class is better than Floyd's, Margarito's, DLH's and Kosta Tszyu's.

I don't even know what to say, for the record Floyd is 33 and past his prime too. The Floyd who ****ed up Corrales and Gatti is gone forever. Mosley might be 38 but the way he dismantled Margarito-number 1 WW- is enough for me. U can tlk about Mayorga but every fighter already underperformed like **** once in their career. Mosley ain't different, he underestimated a weird opponent( at 154) in Mayorga and still managed to KHTFO in the last second to set the record straight.

I know you don't like Floyd but please be honest; saying Mosley is a tune-up fight is just a nonsense. Mosley ain't no Alfonso Gomez.

Yeah that's right: Fighters are NEVER old and washed up and nobody EVER overrates fighters particularly those they like. Right. Get real

This win is right there with Tyson's win over Larry Holmes people. Very, very good win. It matters. Mayweather has like 18 respectable wins in his 41 fight career. That's a high ratio for an undefeated fighter.

To put it more bluntly, it's the highest ratio for any undefeated fighter.

TBH, I don't give Tyson a whole lot of credit for the Holmes fight. Tucker and Rudduck were much better wins for him in my book.

Setting the bar high is a beautiful thing. It keeps the meaning of things from being cheapend by low standards.

You can't be serious. I can see that you are a very big Cotto fan but that statement is 100% false, and even if you could back it up (which you can't), I'd appreciate it if you started another thread cause I don't want to clutter this thread up talking about Cotto's career. Thanks dude.

It's a better win than his last fight. I think it was solid because he didn't just shut down an elite fighter, he overcame adversity as well. I have not seen Mayweather get hurt like that in many years, but he showed great heart as well as Ali-like survival skills. You hold on for dear life if you're hurt instead of taking it like Margarito did.

All in all Mayweather somewhat blew his chances for a higher spot on an ATG list. That layoff was the worst thing he could have done for his legacy because he could have had wins over Pacquiao, Cotto, Williams and yes, Mosley while they were still fresh and considered big wins.

Floyd won't have his either at 38 assuming he's still fighting at that age. Roy Jones' were gone at completely at age 34: That's why he got had out of body experiences against Tarver and Johnson. It happens like that.

I'm not suggesting that at all. What I'm saying is, Shane is faster than any other welterweight in the game right now, and he is far from slow. You can't deny that - the dude looks spectacular every time he fights and has never been so outright dominated! He may not be as fast, but what he lacks in speed today is made up for in more knowledge, experience, and access to better training and camp.

I would be surprised to hear ANYBODY come out and say they weren't absolutely SHOCKED to see how bad Mosley got dominated. Nobody could have seen that coming. I was blown away.

I disagree. A win over Pacquiao sometime in the near future is as good as a win over him 2 years ago, and Williams is still prime, so if that fight happens in the next year or 2, that will help his legacy. He hasn't really blew his chances, seeing as he can still fight those fights and if he wins, they're great wins.

Cotto to me isn't on Floyd's level at anytime in his career - that would have been another embarrassing night for Cotto as he'd have had to face his wife and kid after another loss with that big swollen face. Future generations will not even think twice about Floyd not fighting Cotto.
