  • Is Ray Leonard A Top 10 ATG?

If so why? If not why?

  • #2
    No. Here is why -

    Langford
    Greb
    Robinson
    Armstrong
    Charles
    Fitzsimmons
    Ali
    Pep
    Benny Leonard
    Duran

But that's just me. I don't think Sugar would be very far behind, and I wouldn't be horrified to see him at #10 instead of Duran, although it's worth pointing out that this would mean his being ranked over Archie Moore and Mickey Walker, too - that's a tough argument to make.

I see Sugar as being in the very next clutch, but nearer to 15 than 10.

Bert Sugar ranked Leonard number #25 in his book. For what's that worth

IMO Bert is a great historian but *only* when it comes to the numbers.

He always falls short when it comes to lists.

As for Ray Leonard being top 10 I could see an argument for him being there, but he isn't in mine.

Do you rate him greater than Bob Fitzsimmons?

Bob Fitzsimmons lol.i rank based on a combination of skill, record, and transcendence.meaning that as this fighter is presently constructed, would he dominate today.thats a resounding no for bob.his fight is pure comedy

its stuff like this why i cant take most old fighters serious.and im sure poet or somebody else will come say how great corbett was.well i believe my own 2 eyes over bert sugars or anybody elses.if corbet is good i can only imagine what these other stiffs look like

Ray leonard is definetely a top ten atg with ease. The reason being he beat duran who was fighter of the decade in the 70s, beat hearns and he beat hagler who was a monster. He went from welterweight champ all the way up to lightweight champ in such a competitive era. To be he is the best boxer since ali and he was fighter of the decade in the 80s. So how can you not have the best fighter since ali in the top ten
