I share what the Holmes people said. Holmes was floored by guys like Shavers and Snipes in round 7 but he got up and would be more aggressive. I think Holmes chin can hold up and he would use the laser stiff jab on Foreman for a good portion of the fight. When Foreman would get tired the sting of his punches would go away. I see a prime Holmes winning by UD or even late round stoppage. It would have been a great fight.

Shavers & Snipes are not George Foreman.. Foreman would be the best opponent Holmes had ever been in the ring with in his life and by some considerable way, Foreman fought several who was better than Holmes

I still think Holmes is severely underrated, and I believe he would've beaten Big George.

George Forman had a pretty darn good left jab himself.

Not as good as Holmes left jab,but alot better than people think.

Holmes was no Ali. He wouldn't move, slip or deflect the punches so easily. Foreman would get to him and hurt him badly. 4 rounds, like the Tyson fight.

As for me,if Foreman doesn't knockout Holmes in the first 3 to 5 rounds,I'd give it to Holmes by UD or TKO in the late rounds.
Man, if we're talking about pre-Ali Foreman, then Foreman wins. That man, aged 25, was one of the most fearsome fighters ever, it's easy to overlook what he did to Norton and Frazier, two of the very beat heavies of that era, both men who had given Ali fits. Foreman had power, great hooks, especially to the body and a solid jab.

Holmes has a speed advantage and good move well but he was never fleet footed and often planted his feet to let of combinations. I'd say Foreman late stoppage or if Holmes can somehow survive, a decision win but I doubt Holmes could go 15 with Foreman.

This hands down. That man was a killer. I seriously doubt Holmes would take the same assault Ali did. He would have got caught up in a brawl and stopped. If Holmes had Lyles power id give him a much better chance but Holmes was not a slick defensive fighter and didnt have the power to keep Foreman off of him and was easily lured into brawls.

Holmes might not have been Ali, but he was closer than anyone else. As for "moving" Ali didn't do much of that while leaning against the ropes vs Foreman. Given that Holmes was way past his prime against Tyson, I wouldn't put much stock in that. Based on how he handled Cooney (a hell of a puncher, albeit mostly left) and How Ali handled Foreman, I'd say Holmes by TKO.

It is worth mentioning here that Young was a lot better than stats show: As good as Holmes? I wont get into that but considering he beat Ali (for all practical purposes) and beat George, one has a hard time saying that Holmes outclasses him.

Yeah but from a purely technical perspective Holmed actually had better lateral movement than Ali. Ali was amazing and could do things that nobody else could, but if we look at fighers with the best lateral movement Holmes is one of the best. So, Holmes did have weapons defensively that could be characterized as elite and exclusive.
