    i don't think psyche was a problem.

i never really bought into teddy atlas' "weak minded" talk.

even in his losses mike still tried to fight and it took a severe beating to take him out.

to me when tyson replaced his corner with his HOMIES , it was the start of the end.

no longer did we see the bobbing , weaving mike tyson but just a mike tyson who gradually just came forward to land bombs.

Well I'll get into this later on today when I come back but let's just say...Teddy remembers a very young inexperienced Tyson partially trained off him {Atlas}...who probably should also look himself in the mirror when he questions "Character" and "Heart."

      Peace...

Tyson is my favorite fighter. In his younger years he was at the top of his game. Accurate, tons of power, and good speed... He was a fighter that went through many stuggles... A monster in the ring.. And i heard some one above say he didnt have the phsyological game? Ha ha that was his greatest strength... He put up with most of the bull **** outside of the ring, and when it came time to fight, he let it go... KOing most people in the first or second round... Mentally breaking people down before they got in the ring.... Hes in the top 5 fighters of all time to me... Just for his determination to overcome.

Prime Mike was unstoppable. I think once he started to buy into his own hype, that was the beginning of the end

Great fighter, one of the best, but if you match him against any great atg heavyweights, he would lose.

I've always liked Mike, i think he is very misunderstood and a bit of a Human Tragedy.

Inside the ring he was fearsome and entertaining, however he is slightly over-rated in some corners. For instance I don't think he would be competetive against Prime Ali.

Curious, since everybody has their own list; What's the list of "Great" ATG HWs that beats a peak Tyson?

Overrated or not which forever will be dabated. Mike Tyson in his prime dispalyed incredible mixture of hand and foot speed, once punch KO power and defensive acuity.

Tyson could punch in sustained combinations, throwing hooks from the body to the chin in dazzaling burts, and his head movement and peak a boo style made him a hard target to tag. Despite his reach he had a fine Jab, and despite numerous stoppage losses, a sound set of whiskers.

Tyson's uppercut was one of the most devastating punchers in the history of boxing. It was the uppercut that in his own actual words try to drive Jesse Fergunson's nose into his brain and what knocked out Marvis Frazier.

He was extremely aggressive and strong for his size, and was one of the most intimidating Heavyweights of all time. Often winning fights before the bell had rang.

At his peak and focused, he would be a hard nights work for any Heavyweight in history.

Tyson was a special type of talent, that you don't see very often. And at one time in his career was a true student of the game. At just 20 years of age he won the World Heavyweight Title destroying Trever Berbick, making him the youngest Heavyweight Champion of all time.

He destroyed All Time Greats Michael Spinks and Larry Holmes with relative ease, knocking out both within 4 rounds.

At one stage his record stood a 37-0 and he was rated the best fighter on the planet P4P by Ring Magazine in 1989.

But Tyson was mentalliy unstable and had a unsettled mind. The fame and money he earned was his own worst enemy. Which would be his downfall.

Tyson at his peak was a much more complete fighter than the one that returned in 1996. That one that returned was just a limted heavy handed bomber, who was power crazy.

But whether he furfilled his potential or not. He achived quite a bit in his career......

Prime vs. Prime: I do...well...at least for the first 8 or so rounds because if he can't get him them or at least put a lot of damage on him, then 15 rounds is a long time to hang around with Ali.

Ali was still vulnerable, even in his prime.

As far as him being overrated by some...very true. I've gone over this discussion before but to just get to the end point of my discussion...it's always about having an open question of about how great was he really?
Something we didn't get to find out because he failed to take his talent, the talent/team that helped get him to the top...failed to get into the 90's era where he would have been tested to the highest level.

Prime ali vs prime tyson would be good. I dont think ali has ever been in the ring with someone with as much power as tyson.. I would say if tyson didnt get the knockout in the first half of the fight ali would win in the end..
