I think people misconstrue the title or don't understand what an offensive fighter. Roy Jones is not an offensive fighter. Unless he knew he could land or if he thought he was in any risk of getting hit he would not throw. He was a great defensive fighter.

But, James Toney is an offensive fighter and one of the best in my opinion. He used his defense for his offense and to set everything up for his offense. His fight was based around offense.

Duran was probably the best offensive fighter in my opinion again because of his great defense that was used only to set up his offense.

Well, actually, no. I take that back. They were the best mix of the two. The greatest offensive fighter would be someone who was pure offense and didn't really have any defense or only used offense as his defense and who didn't bother with defense in the traditional sense.

Hmmm, this changes things. Joe Louis, yes. Greb by all accounts although he was meant to use angles very well and be highly unorthodox. Armstrong of course. Pryor. Hearns, Jackson, Benn, Foreman etc.

Silva put up some fine lesser talked about guys too. Fenech was pretty brutal offensively. Frazier, Gomez and Zarate were all offensive machines with little defense, although Frazier had some good defense for a little while before losing around the Foremen fight and then afterward. Tito was good etc etc. There are a lot. You could go on forever just with today's and yesteryears best offesnive dudes.

Getting pissed enough to write more than a paragraph and use the word 'dude' means my current state of induced dementia I'm currently experiencing means this could all turn out to be bollocks. Oh whatever, no one readsa this **** anyway. Everyone will be talking about PPV I dare say.

No argument from me. Louis was certainly the offensive fighter I've ever had the pleasure to watch. The total package

I think what Duran had going for him was at his best he rolled with punches and made the other guy miss and so was always in range to land heavy shots back. Whereas even some of the great offensive fighters stepped back and needed to then get on the front foot.

Since when was Jones an offensive fighter? His offense was good, but his style was anything but offensive. Even Robinson picked his moments, he only ever went all out in desperation. Names like Armstrong and Pryor belong on this list.
