So did I as a welterweight (when before The Showdown he was regarded by most as totally invincible).

That incredible jab, speed and then the fatal right strike.

      Perfect nickname.

          He was.

But he was never quite the same after the tragic death of his opponent Baroudi.

The best light heavy of all time in my opinion.

As far as one of my favourite nicknames go.

'The Ghost with a Hammer in his hand' really takes some beating.

For his size Wilde's power was simply obscene.

This thread has previously appeared on the non-stop section, where a Zimbabwean boxer
was mentioned. I guess that a worse ring name than Hitler the Killer is hard to find.

              love it!!!

Sadly, in today’s easily offended society, one has to think twice or thrice
                  before opening one’s mouth.

As a famous author said it: “If you write about a sewing needle, there is
always some one-eyed bastard who takes offense.”

I agree. What is lost with the pc brigade is humour. It is important for a society to be able to laugh and joke. It is healthy for a society to have humour and satire. To me it is like when they say a measure of a society is how they treat their animals. A society needs satire and fun and humour and just look at societies that don't have that, they are always nasty places with war and people in desperate states.

Mediocrities are seldom remembered. That would be a hella nickname. I mean, how many good fighters get ignored here in a history section of a boxing forum? Quite a few. Vampire Johnson was a good name, and he looked the part if a vampire is toothless.
