  • Mayweather's Position, All Time P4P List

His career is finished, so it is fitting to evaluate Mayweather's position among the greats. The way to do this is to make a list and see who is above him.

If it were about undefeated records he might be #1. But it is not, so maybe it is safe to include the likes of Robinson and Langford. It is not how many you beat but WHO you beat and where they were in their career.

This not a speculative ranking of anyone but Mayweather, the others are unordered. They are simply ahead of Mayweather on my speculative list. They are each to fight MW in a P4P match.

No other baloney wanted, like how many trinkets a fighter stowed away or longevity. This is about fighting not career durability et al. Non heavyweights are most telling, because they do not have the weight disparity of heavyweights among themselves, but heavyweights are included too. Figure out how to do it.

    1. Robinson
    2. Duran

    3. Langford
    4. Greb
    5. Pep
    6. R Leonard
    7. B Leonard
    8. Ali
    9. Armstrong
    10. Chavez
    11. Charles
    12. Monzon
    13. Hagler
    14. Griffith
    15. M Spinks
    16. Saddler
    17. M Walker
    18. Gans
    19. Tunney
    20. J Johnson
    21. Dempsey
    22. Sanchez
    23. Arguello
    24. Tubby Lar
    25. Jimmy Wilde
    26. Holyfield
    27.
    Lewis
    28. Barbados Walcott
    29. Louis
    30. Ward
    31. Whitaker
    32. Hearns
    33. Pacquiao
    34. Marciano
    35. Burley
    36. Mayweather

Almost certain I left out a few who would be above him.

Can't believe I can't see Jimmy McLarnin on your list!

You actually have Andre Ward ranked higher than Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather?

That's got to be satire, surely?

I'm not as anti Mayweather as you, I got him in that 20-25 range, but I feel you got a solid list there. One name I think you forgot, was Archie Moore. Omission, or do you not rate him as highly?

Try reading the post first, my Hammy. I said it was an unordered list. The only person I tried to rank in what I consider to be their rightful position was Mayweather. The others are merely ranked higher than him, not necessarily in their actual positions. I said all of that very clearly.

Right so you rank Andre Ward ahead of Mayweather then?

That's got to be some form of comedy I'm assuming?

I think Mayweather might beat Archie in a P4P match. Archie was kind of slow.
