  • What Is This Man's Legacy?

To begin with he stole three names, though you can't blame a man for what his parents gave him. Okay. Maybe he only stole one.

Their is usually not too much resentment toward great fighters from the fans after retirement, but I think there are exceptions. Resentments can also linger long. Usually it is about ducking someone, color lines, but any number of reasons can fill in.

Maybe many fans thought a fighter put money before boxing; was too safety conscious; was a good or great fighter but played too many games; was horrible to watch--it goes on.

Can't say this guy I mean didn't fight the best in a stacked era, though. That may be why he is ranked so hight on so few fights

He is not talked about a whole lot on here, but rates high.

So I was just wondering what you think this man's legacy is. Will there be a schism between young and old here again? Curious to know how different generations view the same career and fighter.

Does he rank excellent, great, good or ATG. Why's that?

Difficult to know who you're talking about. At first I thought it was Ali, but now I'm thinking Sugar Ray Leonard.

Yeah it is Leonard. I was not trying to riddle a la Mr. Bundana. Just thought it would be easy.. Leonard does not get a lot of talk for as good as he was. How good was he according to newbies and oldsters?

Anyone whos among the top several guys of their era should qualify as an ATG imho. You aren't just good, excellent or great when you are among the handful of top guys from your time.
