    LHW he's Top 3.

ATG I'd put him Top 10-15.

HW I wouldn't really consider him.

Whatever his style was, it was never enough to beat Charley Burley. Charles we can understand, but Burley sends us back to the think tank on Archie.

I put him in the category of "Old Master who can do it all".

I think Burley is often overrated. When I say that I mean he is a 9 and not a 10.

The resume isn't that impressive. Couldn't get by Holman Williams when he had to (the two important fights); victory over 'Ole Mongoose came when Burley was at his very best ('44-'45); never stepped-up to take on New York competion; was never ducked for a title shot because he stayed a brides' maid to Williams; chose California over fighting in the east; was depended on decisions to win big fights; didn't have a big punch when it came to top tier competition.

Best performance was going 2-1 (all decisions) with Zivic.

But that he could steal a decision, from Moore, is not suprising. Burley, as a boxer was good enough to take a 10 round decision from just about anyone on any given night.

I believe if they had fought multiple times Moore would have figured him out.

The KO percentage will be misleading as he fought a lot of bums between fighting top fighters but he was certainly heavy handed and threw his hands in swirling combinations.

His style was mainly ducking, dodging, cross arm defence when needed and then a flurry of punches. His best trait was actually his stamina and fitness levels, even into his 40s, much like bhop.

Moore was a right handed slugger who I think did not have as good as a left. He had a longer reach than most at light heavyweight mixed in a " Philly shell " type of defense which worked for him, but he was not a great defensive fighter. At 175-200 LBS he was big enough to fight the men on his time.

A great light heavyweight, but IMO not the best ever.

I had thought they fought twice. Got him mixed up with Ezzard who seemed to beat Archie almost habitually. Sure, I know all the stuff you said, and I didn't write a complaint post that Burley was so great and so avoided and so unrecognized. I was wrong about how many times they fought. Moore only had 10 rounds to figure him out. Maybe he would have in further fights. The comparisons look like Burley would be too fast for him. Moore was not particularly fast, about average for speed.
