When those guys would lose, it'd break me.

When Douglas knocked Tyson out, I cried

Now, I was a little kid at the time, but still.

When Holyfield beat Tyson in the first fight, it was like the whole hood was depressed.

We really rode with Tyson in the '90s. Grown men cried when he lost

When Roy got KO'd by Tarver & then Glen Johnson, it was like a death.

Ever since then, I haven't gotten THAT invested in any boxers.

I'm invested in guys like Terence Crawford, but if he loses to Spence, I'll survive
        Who is that chick????

My favorite fighter went 50-0 so I can't relate.

How do you cope watching your favourite boxers fight. When you were a kid how did you cope emotionally when your hero was fighting.
If you are emotionally invested in sport and your team wins you get more testosterone and if your guy loses you t goes down.
I got that way about frank bruno as a kid where i was so wanting him to win i just got so nervous and edgy.
I had to go jogging after.
Now with Fury I get so edgy and I sometimes think I can't give myself so much adrenaline and nervous energy but that is what being a fan means.
As a problem drinker drink is now not an option but can you tell me your fights in your life where you felt so emotionally invested in the sport that you get that feeling.
Joe Rogan talks about how being emotionally invested in a boxer made him too damn nervous. He also would go for a run to deal with it.
Can you tell us a fight that you were so invested in that you'll never forget. maybe you had a huge bet on the fight. what do you remember about a fight in your past that you will always remember your hyped up stress of the fight. for me it was tyson vs bruno i was up all night and i remember being so damn nervous and i just worried about frank and i had huge surge of adrenaline and i'll never forget that feeling when he lost.
There is a part of that experience similar to when, as a 60 yr old married man, with loving wife, mutual adoration, some young chick walks buy dressed like a street walker, and the reaction? it lets you know your still alive, biologically invested lol! We fight... we fck, we eat... And those experiences are hard wired in. Sports is a way for people to socially recreate, invest through a proxie... that viking that wants to go berzerker in all of us.

Then you throw in nationalistic impulses (Frank Bruno), which in this case is a constructive impulse, and identifying with a fighter as a fan, and it does get a bit overwhelming. I get those feelings as well lol, like I want to jump in the ring, I mean my body tells me "Fight time!!" From when I fought, that feeling of "why do I feel weaker? but am so much stronger lol"

All these endevours would not amount to a hill of beans if people were not invested... Bottom line.

I barely watch any modern fights, cause they are all glorified amateurs for the most part. Although crawford is looking pretty good, that shows dedication on his part to polish himself up like that in a sport that has very few good trainers, almost non today.

when I was younger, I liked Pacquiao though, cause he seemed to have his own style and came across as a real fighter to me. When he got slept cold it still resonates with me a bit. When a fighter with that kind of willpower goes offline for a second, creeps me out a bit.
