Max and Gene could both hit ( we will call this the hammer), Max had a bigger right (imo), Both guys could move, (screwdriver anyone?) Tunney had a lot faster feet and a lot more range of movements, both guys had technical skills, could counter punch exceptionally, were clever, and mentally tough.
Gene could set a pace that might trouble Max, but Max was clever enough not to easily be set up by Tunney. Both guys threw the overhand right, but Max could make the punch more of a game changer. Inside Tunney was tough and liked to set up for shots while backing off, Schmeling was more apt to pursue the opponent straight on.
I see this as a really close fight. I tend to have a bias for Tunney, I think he was one of the greatest fighters, but Schmelling was very very good, and his right was sneaky! It is how he managed to catch Louis with it so well. Could Tunney feint Schmelling and catch him with a flurry? Yes, but Tunney would have to be very aware of Schmelling's countering ability.
I think Tunney wins a close one here.
I predict Tunney winning 10-5.

Moron G B Shaw took a tour of Russia *(guided of course.) He had nothing but good to say about the communist system, and Stalin was just wonderful. He praised their system and Stalin, who was the kind of leader he stated that the west should have. Stalin had this literary dope completely duped. Third rate writer, first rate dictator.billeau2 likes this.

The 36 Olympics were similarly conducted Star of David's removed from shops and anti semitic propaganda ceased for the duration
To be fair to Shaw ,Stalin's purges and the great Famine that killed over a million were not known about in the West until after the blood thirsty ogre was dead, but you are quite correct GBS was thoroughly duped .
