I think they still keep in touch to this day.

I remember those fights fondly. When they actually put entertaining undercard bouts on PPV shows.

Whitaker named him the strongest fighter he ever fought/

High praise considering some of the men he shared the ring with.

One of them was on HBO, but I can't remember which one

Nelson to me was the greatest boxer to come out of Africa. He fought the Great Sanchez in just his 14th pro fight.Sanchez was training for some one else who was injured in training & Nelson was his replacement & gave Sanchez one of the toughest fights of his 45 fight career.3 weeks later Sanchez was killed in a car crash. They fought each other when championship fights were 15 rounds & this is what it took for Sanchez to stop Nelson. With a broken jaw he was knocked down, got up but Sanchez was all over him & ref stopped it middle of the 15 rd.Nelson fought & defeated some great fighters like 11th round KO of Gomez.I do not know why he isn't talked about more but think he is in the top 5 greatest 126 pound fighters of all time.#1.Sanchez #2.Willie pep #3.Arguello 4.Sandy Saddler 5.Azumah Nelson
