Do today's fighters move in and out better making it more difficult to force a fight close in?

Or is it that clinching is so common that the tactic has had its effectiveness negated?

Do NBA players physically jump higher than 1970s stars?
I think it's just the modern trainers aren't teaching it the way guys like Ray Arcel did.

And in terms of NBA players.

Jordan had the highest vertical leap in NBA combine history from 1984 up until a few years ago.

He still had a higher verticle than Ja Morant, Zack Levine, and Zion Williamson.

Some thing with David Thompson from the '70s, who had a higher vertical than LeBron & just about every modern player.

      - - Stopped watching the NBA after the players were forced to part the Red Sea so Jordan could highlight his uncontested show slams lest the players draw a foul that gives him extra points. Wilt would've grabbed him up for a dunk back in the day.

Right around the glory years of Bird & Doc, there was an unsung undersized player who had a stupendous 48" vertical. I doubt Jordan topped 36'', but it's minor point I could care less about. I don't watch MLB or NFL either for similar reasons as the players are more platforming automons directed by algorithms than flesh and blood talent and instincts.

Heavyweights are much bigger, stronger and longer in the past 20 years. Heavies form the 1940's to 1950's just do not rate / or have the advantages in height, reach, and weight in compassion. It is like matching a welter weight vs a light heavyweight in the difference in height, weight and reach. Think about it, boxing has weight classes for a reason. We are seeing more athleticism among the taller 6'4" and above men today and in the past 30 years. Ray Arcel never trained such a man. The uppercut is not much of an option for a shorter man ( 6'1" and below ) vs a much taller ( 6'5 and above ) man. It's a range thing.

In NFL football the athletes put the NBA clearly in second place in the vertical jump. It's true.

          Jordan's leap was a LEGIT 48".

It was the NBA Draft combine record until a few years ago.

We're seeing more steroids/PEDs in athletes in today's athletes.

            That's it.

Look at the before/after pictures of Anthony Joshua and what do you know? Tyson Fury tested positive.

Deontay Wilder's 6'7 and for years was only 215lbs.

You think all these 6'3" 6'4" guys with power & speed are natrually 250lbs?

If you believe that, I got a bridge to sell ya.

                  - - Top Fighters are considerably more drug tested than top athletes in ball sports, and boxing is the only sport where fans dump on the fighters without basis, the lower end of the evolutionary scale.

Sorry to hear you need Viagra.

Did you know the Shellfish in Seattle's Puget Bay test positive for Viagra and *******? Most global waterways are heavily contaminated with this, that, and the other, most notably Viagra counterfeits produced in Asia sold around the world. We need you to man up to your creation.

                  Well?

Yes, I believe they are naturally all much bigger and taller now. Human beings are taller the pervious generations in general. This is not to say Fury is a PED cheater! He is. The pipe legged Wilder is a hype job and has made career beating OLD / non top ten guys with mostly limited power.
