do we judge fighters within only their respective era? or era to era?

What Fury did in todays world was great. Because boxing requires a strong personality - especially today.

If we are talking head to head though, Fury only looks like a master boxer vs walking punching bag Wilder. He really isn't a master boxer.

      - - Usyk already holds all the titles that count and beat the only guy that did count.

Blubber and Deyonce were for the WBC Bridget Belt and can buy an island in the South Pacific to pound sand together as far as most fight fans are concerned...

We’ll definitely remember that he never fought his contemporaries, that will be held against him. There were three top HW’s. Two fought three times and one fought neither.

However, as a British fan, we’ll definitely recognise what he did for British boxing, him and Fury have created massive buzz we hadn’t seen for a good while. British boxing will miss Joshua when he retires.

I think his legacy will be similar to Cooper’s or Bruno’s. A British great but not a World great- if that makes sense.

Well, shucks; he hasn't got them all by any means; and who exactly gets to judge the relative importance of all those belts? The media? What media? Whose media? Media has always despised all sanctioning bodies anyway.
4-0 as a big boy, Oleksandr Usyk is still in want of the prestigious (GBC) Global Boxing Council title held by undefeated Djuar El Scheich of Syria who in contrast to Usyk has spent his world championship career at heavyweight; and the highly prized (IBA) International Boxing Association world title, still vacant since being stripped from James Toney after he became a perpetual loser; and the stalwart (IBC) International Boxing Council title currently held by Hector "Hurricane" Ferreyro, the best heavyweight nicknamed Hurricane since Peter McNeely himself!, and the (RBO) Royal Boxing Organization crown, held now by Pezhman Seifkhanihasankiadeh (not kidding) 14-0-0 (11), also having far more wins over actual heavyweights than Usyk; and of course there are others out there just waiting to become unified with the real lineage of the most important title in sports.
Collecting belts doesn't mean much one you move beyond being a casual follower.
Not even sure bothering to unify them still means what we'd like it too, seeing how from the moment that happens the clock starts ticking on when the strip-tease show begins so those groups can get their sanctioning fees.
Don't give me Usyk and his many belts. They didn't do 2 wins, 3 losses Anthony Joshua much good in the ring. And they won't save Usyk either.

If Usyk snatched the real title, and beat Fury to do it, his worth goes through the roof. He's done tremendous work already by topping a fertile Cruiserweight generation and having Anthony Joshua’s number, but at 200+ his accomplishments thin out to nearly nothing beyond that. But as a still active fighter he is unfinished and mobile.
And he's got some big skills!
              Hoping we get the fight

                  - - Another retirement to avoid the heat the only thing left for Blubber unless he want's to fight Deyonce or Chisora a 4th time.

                  Shameless...

Usyk has earned a shot at the title by beating a valid contender/beltholder, and it will be a revealing contest. I expect that Fury with have an easier than expected fight keeping the challenger at long range and bringing over some power shots to earn a decisive knockout win while picking up some trinkets for the trophy case.
Joshua should get past Franklin and Ngannou then look to his own first title challenge. Wilder should KO Ruiz to confirm his standing as the no. 2 of this generation, and ideally, after Fury defends against an inspired and rejuvenated Joshua in an epic that reignites the Joshua greatness conversation, Fury moves forward against the newer stars, and Wilder vs. Joshua is ON! The one that I want the Most!!!!
