    Langford vs Greb

I think Langford was finished by the time Greb was wowing the community. 1922 Langford gets hurt by 1922 Greb. I don't like that fight.

Both Burley and Williams akways seemed to stay a weight class above Robinson. In 1941 Burely and Robinson were WW but I think Armstrong was ducking them both.

Through the War years Burley bumped up to MW and Robinson stayed down and dominated the WW. After the War when SRR moved up to MW, Holman Williams jumped to LHW and Burley was done.

I don't think those fights really crossed paths enough for us to be disappointed that an opportunity was missed.

      - - When Sam did his Aussie tour he was still in the pink while Greb was becoming formidable.

After that Aussie tour where Sam returned around the 220-230 mark, he had finally lost his edge after having been exposed to such fine cuisine.

Today, Sam flies in and they fight wherever the venue is that pays the most. Tough fight to predict other than early Greb dominates, but what happens when Sam finally clocks him is the answer of who might win. That's the reason JJohnson never rematched him.

In ‘22 Langford had enough left to defeat Tiger Flowers. Flowers would go on to win 2 out of 3 over Greb in the next few years. Many argued he was robbed in his loss to Greb. While Sam was past his prime at that time he would still be a dangerous fight for Greb who was closer to his own size.

Burley’s problem was his fighting style. He had a throwback stance and wasn’t a fan-friendly fighter. He was difficult to fight and legend has it Robinson once watched him from ringside and made up his mind he would never fight him. Too slick and cagey.

Holman and Marshall were two fighters who would have benefitted from a 168 pound division.

I dont think Greb v Langford was ever really viable.

Cyclone Jonny Thompson. Claimed the Middleweight title after Ketchel's murder. (One of several to do so). Top Lightweight to Middleweight of the early 20th.
                    Would've been great.
