Both Burley and Williams akways seemed to stay a weight class above Robinson. In 1941 Burely and Robinson were WW but I think Armstrong was ducking them both.

Through the War years Burley bumped up to MW and Robinson stayed down and dominated the WW. After the War when SRR moved up to MW, Holman Williams jumped to LHW and Burley was done.

I don't think those fights really crossed paths enough for us to be disappointed that an opportunity was missed.
Robinson was the no 1 welter at the end of 1941 Burley was no5 Williams no6.

      - - In between fights wif Poppy and Roy at 175, his last two fights on this earth, ie Froch was not relevant.

Yea - but Armstrong wasn't interested in fighting either Burley (4) or SRR (1) so fighting each other at that point would have done no good. This is what I was trying go say.

By the time SRR got his title shot in December 1946 Williams was a MW and Burley was in his last hear (at MW).

Trinidad vs. Quartey. It was agreed upon at one point, but for whatever reason it fell through. I can't remember why.

….He was WBC mandatory when Calzaghe was still at the weight so clearly he was relevant at the weight class at that time.

Another one that came to mind, and it's a real pity it didn't happen:

                Thomas Hearns vs Mike McCallum

                And also:

Roy Jones Jr vs Gerald McClellan

                  - - Joe was no longer interested in 168, so Froch irrelevant, period.

Welcome to peruse boxrec to see the Ring list of top ten then at 168. Joe never fought most as happens with any champ no matter how good they is.

Steller job of making Froch irrelevant though, thanks...

                    Totally irrelevant.

You said they weren’t relevant at the same time when Froch was mandatory for his belt.

                      - - What part of Froch being mandatory for titles Joe was no longer interested in while in the middle of his lauded American debut do you not understand???

Froch ducked most of the top ten fighters in every Ring update because they wasn't relevant to the career he wished to pursue that turned out well for him.
