Is cognitive bias a correct description of the Dunning-Kurger Effect?

It's funny but it is linked in the link Queen provided above.

Read the definition of the Dunning-Kruger Effect and then read the linked defintion of Cognitive Bias, written by the same people.

DKE is not an example of cognitive bias. It is real, but it is a different failing.

Me thinks maybe we are over using the phrase cognitive bias.

Then again maybe I'm missing the connection.

Thanks for the link mate. Being a monkey myself, monkey theory is very interesting to me. And as a fellow monkey, you should bone up on it too.

What they're saying is that the DK effect is one of the things that can cause cognitive dissonance to occur.

Dunning and Krueger found that some people who knew only a little about a particular subject were under the impression that they knew it all ... because knowing only a little meant they had no idea how much they didn't know.

Socrates was onto that 3,000 years before D and K ...

“I am wiser than that man. Neither of us probably knows anything worthwhile; but he thinks that he does when he does not, while I do not and do not think that I do”

          - - That's what George was attempting, and being well steeped in monkey law after having a troop of Spider Monkeys for a stint, they're quite a bit more natural in their Monkeyshines than Poor George who could at best only ape them miserably...

He'd be outraged if still around!

How many thousands has Elvis had over these years?

Did you see that recent story about the Elvis estate now suing all of the Elvis impersonators out there for copyright infringement (specifically the wedding chapels in Vegas)?

Yea what a shame. Their greed is disgusting.

In a perverse way all those Elvis impersonators was a constant reminder that he was 'the king of rock and roll,' - now the family estate wants his memory to be merely one more cash cow. Sad!

Yeah, some of Vegas wedding chapels said they would go under if the impersonators had to be removed, since so many come to Vegas to get married by Elvis.
