  • Fighters who fouled and got away with it

not bashing any of these guys, since boxing was rough back in the day, but lets make a case to point them out, ill start with a few:

    1) Foreman pushing Frazier constantly not allowing him to fight inside, and throwing kidney shots his entire career

    2) Dempsey low blows Sharkey and immediately left hooks his jaw before the ref can call anything.

    3) Joe Louis hits Schmelings back, breaks his back ribs. Schmeling screams in pain and before he realizes it, is hammered with a brutal right hand. Schmeling got exrays of his back after the fight and still had pain as an old man from it.

    4) Max Baer killed a man but essentially suckered him with his hardest right hand. Ref didnt call time, but it was a Mayweather Ortiz situation. Baer felt terrible after this.

    5) Duran repeatedly thigh punches Moore in the clinch and sinks a right thumb deep into Moores eye, shutting it almost instantly. This hindered his vision early and allowed Duran to hit him easily all night.

    6) Marciano throws brutal rabbit punches

    7) Lennox Lewis repeatedly holding behind the head and throwing the uppercut.
    8) Holyfield constantly headbutting
    9) Andre Ward continously holding, holding and hitting, headbutting and lowblowing.

Wladimir Klitschko. His Holding is legendary. But his holding and leaning on Povetkin in possibly the most boring heavyweight championship fight was at a whole new level.

Fritzie Zivic, the undisputed King of Dirty Fighting.

In the modern era, Bernard Hopkins and Eusebio Pedroza were no angels in the ring. Joel Casamayor as well.

Yeah Zivic would likely get charged today.

Dempsey's punch wasn't a low blow, it was right on the belt line. Sharkey was a cry baby, always complaining about his losses or looking for help from ref. Ironically it would be Sharkey who low-blowed Schmeling a few years later and it would cost him the title. The first title won on a DQ. Wills was a dirty fighter, and got away with a lot, but was also DQ'd 3 or 4 times in his career, once against Sharkey.

Notable fighters who fouled and got away with it:

Ali pushing down Frazier's head in the rematches for most of the fight. He did it often with other fighters as well.

Greb and Zivic got away with a lot of dirty tactics in their day, wouldn't hesitate to stick a thumb in their opponents eye. Armstrong was known to use his forearms, elbows and top of his head too.

Ward fouled the shyt out of Kessler with elbows and head butts all night. His face told the story. His low blows on Kovalev went unchallenged. He was such a dirty fighter there are actually a few highlight videos on Youtube showing all his dirty tactics over the course of his career.

Hopkins got away with a lot of fouls. He was constantly hitting below the belt. There are videos showing many of his fouls over his career as well.

Floyd has his share of dirty tactics. Delivered a blatant low blow on Manny in round 3, spent the rest of the fight head-locking and using his forearms. He got away with these tactics in several fights.

Holyfield was charging in with his forehead on Tyson all night. He used his forehead quite a bit in his career. Bradley too.

I agree with all of this. Holyfield was the king of the head butt.
