Where does this come from? To me, he looks like a heavyweight Pernell Whitaker. Berbick was like a skilled welter or middle trapped in a muscular, heavyweight body.

He was good, but not great. Only two things people remember him for, beating Ali and losing to Tyson.

      Crude and lowly skilled.

        - -Not to mention barely above novice level when Lar struggled with him.

And probably losing to Larry Holmes.

Yup, but they replay that Tyson KO loss all the time.

he wasn't that good. It's true he was hated because he beat a terrible version of Ali who shouldnt have been fighting. He was however, not that good of a fighter, which is exactly why Tyson taxed his ass so easily. He was so scared of Mike, great fighters don't get scared like that.

I agree with your first assessment - but certainly not your second - he was willing to exchange with Tyson and was swinging when he went down.

He is Jamaican and all but that's how I would describe him based off of what I saw in the Holmes fight.
