I always liked Eddie "Flame" Muhammad aka Eddie Gregory. He was definitely one of the greatest light heavies ever and one of the nicest guys in boxing. He's shown considerable talents as a trainer too, taking a previously faded Iran Barkley to a points victory over Hitman Hearns and now he trains the best young lhw today, Chad Dawson. He remains a modest and generous guy. Even tho he was one of the first fighters to convert to Islam, he never used it as a gimmick or to attract attention. Thats what I really respect.

Good tactics from Gregory against Johnson, making him tire on the outside while cotrolling the ring center.. Defense looked a bit open though..

He was only stopped once as an old man. He had a good chin and was very talented if somewhat inconsistent at times. Against Marvin Johnson he put it all together and displayed some vicious body punching throughout the bout.

For the last 6 months or so i've seen quite a bit of Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, and from what i've seen. He looked incredibly tough aswell as very skilled, but from what i heard he was a very lazy fighter. And i did indeed see that in some of his fights aswell, he just wouldn't let his hands ago. Still an awesome fighter but for certain is an underachiever.

EMM had all the physical attributes to be in that bracket - he could punch and take a punch, top notch skills, quick hands etc. Unfortunately he was inattentive to training and often seemed to lack motivation, hence his yo yo type career and falling short of greatness.

His fight with Marvin Johnson is one of my favorite displays of body punching.

Some say that his fight with Spinks was controversial, the decision that is. Is that true?

EMM won the early rounds of that fight but Spinks took over from about round 7 and also got a late knockdown. I thought Spinks was the worthy winner. He was mugged against Galindez though.
