Wasn't truly a welterweight (only weighed about 140 for his fights), was somewhat past his prime for most his bouts at that weight.

I wouldn't rate Hearns as highly because he lacks the resume at that weight.
Well don't I feel like the horses ass. 19 title defenses? You learn something new everyday. Im gonna have to do some research and revamp this list. Thanks for the info my friend.

Tito would probably rank between 11 and 15. Not so sure about Curry. Im gonna put in some research and come up with a more detailed list. The one I posted yesterday was "on the spot". I'll see if I can rank the top 20 or 25 next time.

Beat Barney Ross to win the WW title

Defended against Ceferino Garcia, Al Manfredo, Baby Arizmendi, Bobby Pacho, Lew Feldman, Davey Day, Ernie Roderick, Manfredo again, Howard Scott, Ritchie Fontaine, Jimmy Garrison, Pacho again, Garrison again, Joe Ghnouly, Pedro Montanez, Paul Junior, Ralph Zanelli, Junior again, Phil Furr, lost title to Fritzie Zivic.

Not nearly all of those fighters were great but wins over Barney Ross, Ceferino Garcia, Pedro Montanez and avenging his losses to Zivic later in his career should already cement him as a WW ATG.

I think Armstrong should be rated in at least the Top 3 147 fighters of all time. 19 Title defences over 2 years is extremely impressive when mostly only weighing 140lb. He also took the Title from a fellow ATG Welterweight in Barney Ross, who hadn't been defeated in 4 years.

Charley Rose ranked Armstrong as the #6 All-Time Welterweight; Nat Fleischer ranked him as the #8 All-Time Welterweight.

The 1996 Ring Almanac and Book of Facts rated Armstrong 1st at welterweight.

Amstrong's win his 147 Title from Barney Ross...........

I'm not even a big fan, but Tito is totally underrated at 147....

So did I!!... The welters are a complex subject... I've had Armstrong as low as No7!.... Shameful....lol

With the exception of Ray Robinson I only rank fighters in one weight class; so I have Duran ranked number one at Lightweight.

You can always tell an Englishman by how high he rates Palomino .
I wouldn't have him top 10 but he does seem to get forgotten a bit, hell of a fighter a shorter prime than most of the ATG's mentioned.
He certainly saw off a couple of our boys.

I liked Hearns at 154, I wouldn't argue with him in the top half dozen at that weight but its a big ask at WW considering we are seeing how deep it has been for talent.

I'd agree with that but its a case of who above him do you knock out to make room, this is a tough division to call.
