  • Wilfred Benitez - the fab 4's 5th member?

Should Benitez be included in the group of Hagler, Hearns, Leonard and Duran?

He fought 3 out of the 4, and beat Duran.

Although Duran was the first to beat Leonard, and also lost to him twice, and then to Hearns and Hagler.

Could he of survived against Hagler? hHis uncanny defence was remarkable.

I thought it was Mike Mccallum.

Anyway, a case for Benitez can be made. Like Mccallum, he is also HOF...

Yees he should. When he got KOd by leonard, it was a close fight, and he took it on a 2 weeks notice. And he in my eyes beated Hearns. he obvioulsy beated Duran, fairly easy. Benitez was great, too bad, bad management and his father greedyness, got him shot by 25.

Benitez would have fought Hagler too, had he beaten Hamsho in a title eliminator. I don't think he'd have beaten Hagler, though.

U seriously think he beat Hearns?

I urge u to watch it again. I watched it a couple of weeks ago and IMO Hearns dominated Benitez. He hurt him several times and dropped him.
Hearns was a monster in that fight.
Difficult to see anyone beating him.

Then i watch the Leonard fight. SRL was just remarkable.

Good call, McCallum was superior to Benitez. These four were named as such because of box-office draw as much as anything else though, a fact which would exclude all others.

Speaking of Benitez, how is it that he's in as bad as shape as he's in when he hardly ever took clean, hard shots? He's almost as bad as bobby Chacon, as both need 24 hour care. Wilfred was a great fighter, he would have been competitive with anyone. I don't understand how his mind is in such bad shape when he had that great defence. Randy "Tex" Cobb talks and gets around better than "Radar". Any theories or thoughts on how his condition got so bad?

And yes, I would include him as per the original question.

Cobb and the George's Chuvalo and Foreman took a ton of punches throughout their career and they're not punch-drunk. Leaves me wondering how Wilfred Benitez is in the state he's in when he was a defensive wiz

In the later part of his career he got hited too much. And the fight with Hamilton ****ed him up forever, he got really KTFO and seriously hurt.

No to mention his drugs abuse and lack of traning!!!!!!!!!
